Ravi Shankar Yalamanchili hails from Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh. He attended Veeramachaneni Paddayya Siddhartha Public School, Vijayawada. He graduated from Sagi Ramakrishnam Raju College of Engineering (SRKR College of Engineering), Bhimavaram, Andhra Pradesh. Later, he moved to Madhapur, a suburb of Hyderabad, Telangana.

Career
In August 2001, Y. Ravi Shankar became the director of Fore C Software Ltd, which carries out architectural, engineering and other technical activities in Tamil Nadu. In December 2005, he became the director of Netsource Softek Pvt Ltd, Telangana. He is the co-founder of the Indian film production company “Mythri Movie Makers,” which he founded with his partners Naveen Yerneni and Mohan Cherukuri. Founded in 2015, the production mainly produces and distributes Telugu films.
In 2015, Y. Ravi Shankar made his debut with the Telugu action drama film ‘Srimanthudu.’ The film tells the story of a multi-millionaire named Harsha who becomes the adopted son of a village in an effort to fill the void in his life and strive to improve the standard of living of the local people. Much appreciated, the film earned the Mythri Movie Makers award for “Best Popular Film” at the 2016 Nandi Awards.
The production house’s second venture, ‘Janatha Garage’ (2016), is a Telugu-language action drama film about an environmental activist who, during his visit to Hyderabad, comes across a man who runs an organization for the downtrodden and joins hands with him for a noble cause.
In 2018, Mythri Movie Makers released the Telugu language period action drama film ‘Rangasthalam 1985.’ The story of the film revolves around a hearing impaired young man named Chittibabu and his brother who decide to fight against the illegal rule of a corrupt leader in their village for 30 years. For the film, Mythri Movie Makers got a nomination for “Best Film” at the 2019 Filmfare Awards – Telugu Film Industry.
After Mohan Cherukuri parted ways with the production house in 2019, it was headed by Naveen Yerneni and Y. Ravi Shankar.
In 2021, Mythri Movie Makers released another popular Indian Telugu language action drama film ‘Pushpa: The Rise – Part 1.’ The film centers around Pushpa Raj, one of the many porters in the Seshachalam forest in South India who illegally smuggles the forest’s red sandalwood.
After delivering several Telugu blockbusters, Mythri Movie Makers announced their foray into Bollywood in 2021 with a Salman Khan starrer. Y. Ravi Shankar also became a designated partner of real estate company Mythri Associates LLP, Hyderabad, in July 2021.
