A young fan finally got the best seat at the LA Lakers vs. Golden State Warriors Saturday night. With an empty chair next to her, literally anyone could have occupied it, but when NBA star LeBron James sat down, 12-year-old Gaia’s reaction said it all.

Although James was inactive for the game due to a minor injury, he attended and sat courtside, much to the surprise of overjoyed fans who sat courtside with his brother. When James sat down next to Gaia, the expression on his face said everything anyone needed to know about how he felt. His eyes widened and his mouth dropped open as he looked as shocked as if he had seen a ghost.
With the amount of shock he was in, he didn’t say anything to the NBA star, and after a video of the moment quickly went viral, ESPN’s Lisa Salters interviewed the excited fan as he was still sitting next to James.
When Salters asked how she felt when James sat next to her, Gaia explained that she had tickets to the game for more than three months in hopes that maybe this would be the game where James would break the record. And while he finally broke the scoring record last week, he’s still excited for the game and the chance to see James in action.

“When I heard he had a leg injury, I was sad, and we don’t know if he is with the team for this game or not. “When he finally sat here, I’m obviously not as tall as him so I could only see like his shoes, and then I looked up and I saw LeBron James,” he said.
“And what went through my mind was, oh my God, the greatest player of all time in basketball is sitting next to me. I just completely freaked out. I was just thinking, oh my gosh this is like the best moment of my life.”
The interview took place while Gaia was sitting in her courtside seat, and James was still sitting right next to her oblivious to what was happening to his left. Salters also asks Gaia if she talks to James at all.
“No, not really. I have been asked not to distract the players,” he said. He was then asked what he would say to her if he could. “I mean, my friends are already like getting me autographs and I’m like I can’t do it, but if I can say something to him, I’ll say hello and say hello,” he said. “What’s going through my mind right now is this is incredible, it’s an amazing moment.”
