A father has warned other parents to check their children’s food after his daughter found a worm-like creature inside a chocolate egg.
Clive Henare from North Brisbane bought chocolate eggs, featuring packaging from popular children’s show Cocomelon, from Choice The Discount Store in Upper Coomera on the Gold Coast on Tuesday.
Her daughter had eaten half an egg before she started screaming.
“He was shocked, tears and spit were running down his face,” Henare told NCA Newswire.
The little girl said that she saw some “white lumps” in the chocolate, immediately realizing that they were insects.

When Clive Henare’s daughter bit into the chocolate egg, she screamed, saying she saw some “white chunks” in the chocolate, realizing it was an insect. News.com.au
“I was really scared, so I looked around the chocolate and found it was moving so I threw it across the room,” she said.
“I can’t buy chocolate eggs anymore.”
At first, Henare thought her daughter just had an overactive imagination, but saw something disturbing when she looked closer.

“I looked and didn’t see anything…but then they started coming out of the chocolate,” he said.
“Then he was really screaming so I just grabbed him and threw him out the window because he was really scared.”
The young girl believed that she ate at least one of the creatures when she ate the chocolate.

Henare returned to the store where the manager apologized and offered the father a refund.
“I do not care [the refund]I hope it doesn’t happen to another child because my daughter is really upset.”
The store has also removed eggs from its shelves.
