Popular online gamer YouTuber Ninja has been diagnosed with cancer after doctors discovered a strange-looking mark during a routine medical check-up.

The Illinois native revealed that the exact type of cancer was melanoma and expressed his doctors’ confidence in being able to treat it as it was caught early.

The 32-year-old took to Twitter to reveal the news of his battle with skin cancer to his fans. Youtuber Ninja, who is also known as Tyler Blevins, revealed that it happened after carrying out a routine medical examination that his wife urged him to go to, where the doctor noticed a mole on the bottom of his leg.

The mole turned out to be melanoma, which is cancerous and is a common form of skin cancer.

“Well, I’m still in a bit of shock but wanted to keep you all updated. A few weeks ago, I went to the dermatologist for my annual skin/mole checkup that Jess proactively scheduled for me,” she wrote on X.

She continued, “There was a mole on the bottom of my leg that they wanted to remove just to be careful. It came back as melanoma, but they’re optimistic that we caught it early.”

The Fortnite player also expressed his hope, as well as his doctor’s belief, that early detection of cancer can make a difference in his life and not a death sentence.

“I had another dark spot appear near it, so today they did a biopsy and removed a larger area around the melanoma hoping that under the microscope they would see a clear non-melanoma edge and we would know we got it,” she continued.

Ninja also went the extra mile to create some awareness and encourage people to get checked, writing, “I’m grateful to have had the hope of finding this earlier, but please take this as a PSA to get a skin check.”
