The event, which took place on Monday in Hollywood, paid tribute to Zac Efron and his stellar acting career. His “The Iron Claw” co-star Jeremy Allen White and the film’s director Sean Durkin both gave speeches before Efron took the stand to thank everyone who has supported him throughout the year. He then paid tribute to Matthew Perry, who starred in “17 Again” with Efron.

“Cooperate with [Perry], it was a lot of fun, and it really pushed me and motivated me in a lot of ways. It really pushed me to the next chapter in my career,” said Efron, per Entertainment Tonight.

Perry and Efron played adult and teenage versions of each other in the 2009 comedy. “Thank you so much, Matthew,” Efron said, ending with, “Thinking about you a lot today.”

Efron also spoke about Perry’s departure when news broke that Perry wanted Efron to portray him in a biopic. “I heard it, and it’s a huge honor,” Efron said at the time. “Matthew [was] just the best man in the world. I had the best time of my life working with him, and think that he thought of me for the role,” said Zac. “I mean, I’d be happy to do it, to be honest.”

Anti-Depression, Anti-Anxiety Medication Found in Matthew Perry's HomeMEGA

Although the cause of death is still under investigation, it is believed that Matthew Perry drowned when he was found unresponsive in his hot tub on October 28.

Police did an initial investigation of Perry’s home, and all they found were prescription anti-depressants and anti-anxiety drugs — no illegal narcotics were found at the scene.

According to sources, the “Friends” actor was reportedly exhausted in the days leading up to his death. “[His partner] said he was exhausted [that day] and over the past week. Fewer than usual. He played for an hour and then went home,” said Billy Bush, a friend of the late actor, according to our previous report.

This suggests that there may be something medically going on that is not being diagnosed, which is leading to the fatigue and possibly the hot tub incident; however, once the results of the toxicology report are released, it should be able to answer more questions about the late actor’s sudden death.
