In 2017, Zanai Bhosle began working with India’s first transgender group titled ‘6 Pack,’ sponsored by Yash Raj Films. The band mainly uses hands, feet, boxes, buckets, bottles, tea packs, cups, spoons and whistles as musical instruments. Zanai Bhosle’s first song she recorded with this group was ‘Hil Pori Hila,’ previously sung by Usha Mangeshkar in 1973. The video of the song featured 25 deprived children from Mumbai’s Salaam Bombay Foundation. Once, in an interview with a media house, Zanai Bhosle stated that every human community must be given an equal chance to shine. He stated,
They (transgender) are treated badly in society. I hope my song makes a difference in how transgender people are treated in our society. I think everyone should be treated equally…after all we are human.”
