A 3-year-old American girl held hostage in Gaza was reportedly in her father’s arms when she and her mother were killed by Hamas terrorists – and she managed to crawl out from under his body before he was kidnapped.
Abigail Mor Idan and her family were in their home in Kibbutz Kfar Aza when terrorists launched their attack on October 7 and opened fire on them, killing her parents, Roi and Smadar, the Jerusalem Post reported.
Roi, a news photographer, was hit while holding Abigail and fell on top of her, but she managed to crawl “from under her father’s body … covered in his blood,” her aunt Liz Hirsh Naftali told NBC News’ Lester Holt.
Smadar was shot dead in the living room, while Abigail’s sisters, aged 9 and 6, sought refuge in a closet. The other two children are now in the care of relatives.
Abigail ran to a nearby house and huddled with her family inside a bomb shelter while the carnage continued outside, Hirsh Naftali said.

“The last thing we learn is that someone sees [a] terrorists took this mother, her three children and Abigail out of the kibbutz. That’s all we know,” he said.
The aunt said that Abigail’s siblings witnessed their parents being slaughtered.
“They saw their mother killed. They saw their father killed. These children know their parents are gone,” Hirsh Naftali told NBC News. “What do you say to these children? You give them love. You give them everything.”

Hirsh Naftali was joined by seven other families whose American relatives were arrested.
Among them was Orna Neutra, whose son Omer, 21, an Israeli soldier from Long Island, was one of the hostages.
“It’s been 39 days. We don’t know anything. We know they are taken. We know they are whole when they are taken. We don’t know where they were held, whether they were tortured, whether they were fed,” said Neutra.

“Can you imagine? It is unimaginable,” he added.
Also interviewed was Jon Polin, whose 23-year-old son Hirsch was caught on video being loaded into a truck with one arm severed during the tragic music festival.
“We will not rest until we bring them back,” Polin told Holt.

The Israeli government says Hamas is believed to be holding 239 prisoners.
White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan said the US did not know the exact number of prisoners, although he confirmed nine Americans were still missing.
“We don’t know the status – whether they are alive or whether they have died – but we are looking for a safe recovery for all those individuals,” he said Sunday on CNN.
