Seven passengers and one crew member were hospitalized after an international JetBlue flight experienced “sudden severe turbulence” as it approached a Florida airport Monday morning, officials said.
JetBlue Flight 1256 was en route to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport from Ecuador when the plane suddenly began shaking, the company told ABC News and other outlets.

The plane landed safely, and was immediately met by doctors on the ground.
Seven travelers and an airline employee were taken to a hospital where they were evaluated and treated, JetBlue said.
Further information on the condition of the eight people was not immediately released.
The flight landed after 5 a.m., according to online records.

The National Transportation Safety Board said it would investigate the incident on the Airbus A320 plane.
JetBlue said the plane involved has been taken out of service and will be inspected.
