An 8-year-old New York boy was struck and killed by a school bus as he was on his way home from his yeshiva in Rockland County Monday afternoon, police said.

The boy, named in local reports as Mordechai Pinchos Spitzer, stepped in front of the school bus as it made its rounds around 6 p.m. in the village of New Square dropping off students, according to the Ramapo Police Department.

The boy died at the scene from his injuries.
