Pat McAfee still has a soft spot for Aaron Rodgers despite kicking the NFL star from his Tuesday broadcast.
Just a day after the sports analyst announced Rodgers’ departure from his eponymous podcast, the athlete made an unexpected comeback to the show. As long as he’s not making controversial comments about Jimmy Kimmel and Jeffrey Epstein, McAfee seems to enjoy the quarterback’s view of sports.

Thursday’s episode of “The Pat McAfee Show” featured the host addressing the big news that rocked the NFL world. Legendary coach Bill Belichick surprised many with his retirement as coach of the New England Patriots after 24 seasons and six Super Bowl victories.
Belichick’s retirement resonated with McAfee, and he didn’t mind going back on his words to ask Rodgers out of his show. In his opening monologue, the sports analyst introduced the New York Jets quarterback as “the last person Bill Belichick talked to on the field as head coach of the New England Patriots.”
Rodgers’ team faced the Patriots in Foxborough, emerging victorious with a 17-3 victory. Despite being the best source to address Belichick’s retirement, it seems McAfee didn’t get his team’s approval for the athlete’s return as “What!” echoed in the background following the NFL star’s introduction.
The shocked reaction didn’t faze Rodgers, who noted he was in “offseason” mode somewhere in the woods. He also spoke about Nick Saban’s retirement after 17 years as Alabama’s coach, saying he was surprised the icon was stepping down given his incredible accomplishments.
It’s still unclear if Rodgers’ appearance is a one-off or if he’s returning to McAfee’s show. As noted 24 hours earlier, the podcast host claimed the NFL star would no longer have an “Aaron Rodgers Tuesday” segment following his controversial comments about Jimmy Kimmel’s relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.
McAfee noted that while his show promotes free speech, people have to deal with the consequences of their words. Although he didn’t mention Rodgers by name directly, the host claimed the previous episode had “given a lot of people who have been waiting for us to fail a lot of ammunition.”
The sports analyst said he respected Rodgers’ achievements on the field but hinted the athlete’s fame did not overshadow his controversial comments. “Aaron Rodgers is a Hall of Famer. He is a four-time MVP. He is a huge piece of the NFL story. Every time you go back and tell him, he’s going to be a big part of it,” asserted McAfee, before adding:
“We are very lucky to have had the opportunity to chat with him and learn from him. Some of his thoughts and opinions, however, caught the attention of many people. And I’m sure that’s no longer every Wednesday in my life, which has been the case for the past few weeks.
The podcast host stated that he doesn’t like getting tied up in the drama between Rodgers and Kimmel and “doing this type of talk.” McAfee dropped a clip of his announcement on X, noting in the caption that he’s ready to resume conversations about sports on his show.
Aaron Rodgers Claims His Feud With Jimmy Kimmel Was A Big Misunderstanding

Days before Rodgers returned to McAfee’s show, he got on Kimmel’s bad side by implying the late-night talk show host had ties to Epstein’s hit list. The latter responded to the comments with a hurtful jab at the NFL star’s intelligence, calling him a “hamster brain guy.”
Following Kimmel’s criticism, Rodgers reappeared on “The Pat McAfee Show” to address the two’s feud. According to the quarterback, the drama was a big misunderstanding because he would not accuse anyone of being a pedophile without proof.
The 40-year-old noted that his comments about Kimmel being concerned about Epstein’s hit list did not imply the TV host’s name was on it. Instead, he’s referring to the fact that he’s right that the list exists because Kimmel doesn’t seem to believe it.
He insisted he understood Kimmel’s anger but insisted the talk show host’s emotions were misplaced. In the words of an NFL star:
“I’m not stupid enough, even though you think I’m stupid, and you make a lot of comments about my intelligence. But I’m not stupid enough to accuse you with absolutely zero evidence, concrete evidence. That’s ridiculous.”
Rodgers stated that he wanted to end his beef with Kimmel but refused to apologize for his earlier comments, stating that the misunderstanding was not his fault.
