A Group of Legends Shares a Message of Mutual Appreciation

ABBA’s joint statement included a photo of the group winning the award in 1974.

The accompanying message read, “It’s dizzying and incredibly humbling to think that the millions of you who saw us for the first time in the 1974 Eurovision final have passed our music not just to one generation, but to generations.”

They talk about how there is major evidence of their impact in Abba Voyage in London, which is one of the reasons they are celebrating the 50th anniversary, because they know that their songs “still resonate.”

The message further read, “It’s hard to fathom that 50 years have passed since the four of us waited backstage for the results of all the juries across Europe at the Dome in Brighton. So what were our dreams during those tense moments or in the chaos after the victory we got by the smallest margin in the history of Eurovision?
