An accused serial killer lures his victims by telling them he needs their help to dig up buried treasure in the Washington wilderness, where he brutally slaughters them and searches their bodies.
Richard Bradley Jr., 40, had been in jail for one of his murder charges for two and a half years when he was charged with three more murders in the past two weeks.
Bradley was initially charged in May 2021 for allegedly killing and burying 44-year-old Brandi Blake at Auburn’s 160-acre Playground Park.
While exhuming her body, authorities found nearby the bodies of three others, later identified as Bradley’s other victims: Emilio Maturin, 36, Michael Goeman, 59, and Goeman’s son, Vance Lakey, 31, according to court documents obtained by The Seattle Times.
All four were killed after they unwittingly fell for Bradley’s crazy scheme — and not long after each had made a large sum of money, prosecutors allege.
Bradley reportedly told everyone that he needed help to dig for gold in the forest, kill them and haul away whatever possessions they had, as well as their car, which he was seen driving in the days following their disappearance.

Maturin was the first to go missing, with his girlfriend reporting him missing in September 2019, two weeks after he was last seen alive.
He told detectives he overheard Bradley telling Maturin that “he needed help digging up some gold buried in Auburn,” a suburb of Seattle.
Despite his doubts, Maturin followed his alleged killer to the park in his new BMW and took a pound of heroin, some meth and $15,000 in cash, according to court documents.
Hours later, Auburn police found an unregistered BMW parked near a large field in the park and waiting for the driver to return. When they tried to stop the driver, the car took off.

Bradley was arrested after a car and foot chase and charged with evading police.
He allegedly waited another two years to attack, but this time targeted two people.
Goeman had received a large inheritance shortly before he and his son were gunned down in March 2021, their bodies found on an unmaintained road not far from the park.
Bradley was considered a person interested in death at the time.
He was charged in May with second-degree arson after prosecutors said he offered a man $1,000 to burn the father and son’s impounded SUV.
Her body was found in a shallow grave the same month, and Bradley was charged with her murder by blunt force trauma. GoFundMe

Bradley, who is scheduled to go on trial next month in Blake’s death, now faces two counts of first-degree premeditated murder, two counts of second-degree murder and second-degree arson.
He has yet to enter a plea to the new murder charge.
