His name is DeVine, not Levine! Who knew mistaking the letter “D” for “L” could cause so many problems? “Pitch Perfect” star Adam DeVine wondered the same thing after suffering the consequences of a mistaken identity last year.
The sensational actress was accidentally dragged into Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine’s cheating scandal because of the similarity of their names. Now, the Hollywood heartthrob is reflecting back on the viral moment
Adam DeVine Recalls The Crazy Time He Was Mistaken For Adam Levine
Once upon a time, the star of the “Workaholics” franchise found the similarity between his name and Adam Levine funny. However, the comedian’s attitude changed due to the marital problems of the older entertainer.

During a recent appearance on Alex Cooper’s “Call Her Daddy” podcast, the 39-year-old discussed his troubles in 2022 with the “One More Night” musician. At the time, the entertainer was forced to clear his name after Levine made headlines for cheating on his pregnant wife, Behati Prinsloo.
“I would never—I’m not good at inserting myself into other people’s dramas,” the TV personality explained. “I was like, ‘this guy has been through it.’ Therefore, I steer clear.
However, DeVine had plenty of reason to intervene after an unknown news outlet mistook him for the “Payphone” singer in his headline. This mix-up resulted in Maroon 5 fans attacking innocent viewers with hateful messages.
“I get so many people who just DM me saying, ‘How dare you?'” he lamented, noting that he looked up several social media user accounts to understand the problem.
“Then you look at their page, and I’m like, ‘These people don’t follow me. They have no idea. They’re not fans of Workaholics,'” the actor continued. “They didn’t watch my movies; they’re really Maroon 5 fans and now they hate me by accident…’ I have legitimately received hundreds of DMs.”
Tired of being painted as the bad guy, the “Jessi” star set the record straight using his favorite skill — humor. The 39-year-old explained the misunderstanding on Instagram, sharing a picture of himself with his wife, Chloe Bridges. She captioned the sweet post with a simple message about the situation. “Just wanted to post this and say that my wife @chloebridges and I are doing great and staying strong,” the Iowa native said.

“I’m not Adam Levine. He’s a different man and a worse singer. We, however, named our future baby Sumner,” the comedian hilariously ended the caption. For those unaware, DeVine was referencing Instagram model Sumner Stroh, who claimed she had an affair with the Maroon 5 frontman.
The social media influencer made the claim in a TikTok video, sharing screenshots of his conversation with the group’s leader. In the photo, Levine asks for permission to name his third child “Sumner.”
Despite Stroh’s claims, the 43-year-old singer denied the affair on her Instagram Stories and assured fans that the only line she walks is talking in a “seductive way.”
“In certain circumstances, it became inappropriate,” the entertainer admitted, “I’ve dealt with it and taken proactive steps to fix this with my family. My wife and family are all I love in the world.”
All About The Comedian’s Wedding With Chloe Bridges
In 2021, DeVine tied the knot with his partner, as shared by The Blast. The cute couple said their vows in a beautiful ceremony in Mexico, nearly two years after the “Modern Family” star proposed.
The actor’s “Workaholics” stars Anders Holm, Blake Anderson, and Erik Griffin attended the event with fellow comedian Adam Ray. These celebrities captured various highlights from the Cabo San Lucas event on their social media pages.

Ahead of her wedding, the “Camp Rock 2” actress gave fans a glimpse of her upcoming event. The Louisiana native shared multiple images of herself shopping for a wedding dress and captioned the carousel with a sweet message.
The 31-year-old stated that the couple might be considered “crazy” for planning their wedding during the Coronavirus outbreak. Although the pair face various obstacles, such as contracting a novel virus, they manage to do the impossible.
Bridges and DeVine first met in 2014 on the set of “The Final Girls.” Soon after their meeting, they started dating and didn’t take their relationship to the next level until the actor proposed in October 2019.
