Al Roker Is ‘Thankful To Be Well Enough’ For Family Christmas Tree Decorations

One of Al Roker’s wishes came true this Christmas season, and he’s more than grateful for it after being hospitalized for a month.

Al was recently treated for a blood clot in his lungs, and after a successful operation, he returned home, healthy and enthusiastic enough to take part in his family’s festive tradition – decorating the Christmas tree.

The old man has expressed gratitude over and over for being with his family this holiday season, but most recently, he felt lucky to be able to hang the decorations with them. Taking to Instagram, he posted a tribute featuring his wife, fellow journalist Deborah Roberts, 62, their daughter, Leila Roker, 24, and son, Nicholas Albert Roker, 20.

They can all be seen holding ornaments on each slide, starting with Leila, who is beaming as she poses on a ladder close to the tree. Some of the slides feature the family together, as seen in the last one, where they are all smiles while holding each other, including their adorable puppy to hold.

Looking well decorated with bright lights and shiny baubles, the Christmas tree is a real eye-catcher and almost reaches the ceiling of the room. Al, who appears in good physical shape in the slide, wrote in the caption, “So grateful to be healthy enough to decorate the Roker Family #christmastree.”

The post got over 43k likes in less than ten hours, with more than a thousand commenters loving the family warmth and several expressing delight at seeing the weather presenter looking fit.

“Love and so happy to see you all together,” one fan wrote, and another exclaimed. “Nice to meet you. Happy holidays and your family. Continued good health to you!”

One die-hard supporter was so happy for Al and his family as they wrote, adding some red heart emojis and “your health is your wealth.” Feeling as grateful as the 68-year-old was at the happy development, one follower couldn’t help but celebrate him and his “beautiful family” with love emojis.

At the same time, another user stated, “This made my night! Seeing you all together warms my heart – One day at a time with Al’s health journey back! Slow and steady wins the race.”

The famous journalist is apparently working on his health step by step by trying to regain his strength through physical therapy and daily work.

He said so during a December interview on the “Today” show, noting that he felt like “a very lucky person.” Al also recounted his experiences in the midst of and after being hospitalized, admitting that it felt good to be surrounded by family at home.

Being treated in the hospital was admittedly a difficult period for him which made him very grateful for “this outpouring of prayers and thanks.” Meanwhile, feeling “very lucky,” he explained:

“You lose a certain amount of muscle mass every week you’re in the hospital. I was in the hospital for four weeks. So you know it’s just a certain weakness. I do physical therapy every day, occupational therapy. I just need to get my strength back.”

Crediting the staff of New York Presbyterian Hospital, he sent them a shout-out and made sure to express his gratitude to the “Today” family more than once for their love and support.

The Weather Man Leaves the Hospital Just in Time for Thanksgiving

Al was out of the hospital shortly before Thanksgiving; naturally, he was over the moon. The Blast reports that he was filmed leaving the hospital in dark pants, a green themed shirt and a black hat while mouthing “wahoooo” as seen on his Instagram feed.

The “Today” anchor, who is ready for a triumphant walk, told viewers in the video that it was his version of a “Thanksgiving Day parade” as he prepared to leave the hospital. The caption reads:

“So much to be #thankful for on #thanksgiving. Leaving the hospital and home for #thanksgivingdinner.”

Al’s supporters couldn’t be happier for him as they flooded the comments section with wholehearted joy that he made it home in time for a celebratory dinner and a glimpse of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade.
