Alabama couple accused of torturing three young children with blowtorch

An Alabama mother and her boyfriend have been arrested for allegedly torturing her three young children with a blowpipe, according to a report.

Ashleigh Ableman, 27, and her partner, Howard Anderson, 53, were hit with willfully abusing a child charges last week over disturbing allegations.

The couple has been accused of using blowpipes to burn Ableman’s children — ages 4, 7, and 9 — and other forms of abuse, investigators said.

“This is a clear case of torture to this child. We knew right away that we had to intervene,” Lieutenant Caroline Jackson told WDHN.

Jackson said the child, who is in the custody of the Department of Human Resources, suffered severe burns from the abuse.

The child reportedly told investigators about some of the abuse, according to Jackson.

Ableman and Anderson were arrested after the Dale County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at their home in Ariton, Alabama.

They are both being held without bond pending a first appearance, local outlets reported.

Intentional child abuse is a felony in Alabama and is punishable by up to 10 years and a $15,000 fine.
