Actor Alec Baldwin and other producers of “Rust” must submit all documents related to the production of the Western film.
According to new court documents obtained by The Blast, the court ordered that all written agreements, contracts, memorandums of understanding, letters of intent, etc. unredacted should be turned over to the state of New Mexico as the state continues its criminal case against “Rust” Hannah Gutierrez-Reed Shields.
Court Orders Alec Baldwin and ‘Rust’ Producers to Turn Over ALL Unredacted Documents

On Tuesday, October 10, The Blast obtained court documents showing that Rust Movie Productions, LLC. attempted to quash subpoenas from the state of New Mexico and filed motions for protective orders in two separate instances.
The first is to submit “all written agreements, contracts, memorandums of understanding and letters of intent by and between Rust Movie Productions, Inc. and Alexander R. Baldwin III for the period January 1, 2020 to October 21, 2021.”

The other is “All written agreements, contracts, memorandums of understanding and letters of intent by and between Rust Movie Productions, Inc. and El Dorado Pictures for the period January 1, 2020 through October 21, 2021.”
Although the producers of “Rust” tried to block the release of the documents, a judge denied their request and ordered them to hand over the documents on October 20. As stated in the court document: “It is further ordered that Rust Productions, LLC shall provide unredacted documents in response to the subpoena and shall do so by the close of business on 10/20/23.”
Trial For Hannah Gutierrez-Reed Postponed Until 2024

In January 2023, both Hannah Gutierrez-Reed and Alec Baldwin were charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter in the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, which occurred on October 21, 2021. Gutierrez-Reed was not present at the church when Hutchins was killed.

“Ms. Gutierrez claims she made a request for an additional shield day and additional time to provide firearms training to Mr. Baldwin,” meaning Gutierrez-Reed requested an additional day to train Alec Baldwin on how to handle firearms and was denied. “Ms. Gutierrez asserted that he believed this request was denied for financial/budgetary reasons,” the document added.

“This is an appropriate inquiry for the State to explore by reviewing the agreements between Mr. Baldwin and the various production companies to determine whether there were financial or other considerations involved in the decision to deny Ms. Gutierrez working additional shield days and/or prepare days. additional training to Mr. Baldwin,” the court filing said. “For example, Mr. Baldwin’s agreement will most likely require him to receive a certain amount of compensation for each day of filming or for each day of performing tasks related to filming, such as firearms training.”
The state of New Mexico said it “should be allowed to explore” if Hannah Gutierrez-Reed’s request for additional firearms training was “denied for financial considerations” and “not for safety or other reasonable considerations.”
Now that the court has ruled that the producers of “Rust” must hand over the document, it remains to be seen whether it will change the charges against Hannah Gutierrez-Reed or Alec Baldwin.
