Alexa Nikolas Protests ‘Zoey 101’ Reboot, Wants Former Costars To Speak Out Against Nickelodeon

Nickelodeon alum Alexa Nikolas recently called out the producers of the “Zoey 101” reboot, claiming that the new show will only harm the survivors. The actress previously played Nicole Bristol on Nickelodeon’s “Zoey 101” and, years later, appeared in movies like “Hidden Hills,” “That’s Life,” The Walking Dead,” and “Revelations.”

Over the years, Nikolas has been open about his alleged abuse while on the show. One of the incidents, the actress claims, involved a then-pregnant Britney Spears yelling at her. Britney is the younger sister of Jamie Lynn Spears, who plays the lead character in “Zoey 101.”

With the reboot now in production with a late 2023 release date, Nikolas has stepped up to protest it. The actor claimed that the show had caused too much damage to the public to consider a reboot.

Speak to TMZ, Nikolas revealed that while making “Zoey 101,” he was traumatized. He joined a group of people outside Nickelodeon’s headquarters in Burbank to protest the upcoming remake. Nikolas also expressed his feelings for his previous co-stars who have agreed to star in the reboot.

Nikolas shared his displeasure with the show’s cast, claiming that they supported a network that apparently contributed to his childhood trauma.

According to Nikolas, the fact that the studio is even producing a reboot shows its indifference to the groups of people who have come forward to speak out about the alleged abuse they have experienced. He also said that it sends abuse victims around the world a bad message about the studio.

The Disney alum also revealed that she hopes her old co-stars will join her in her protest against the reboot. If they couldn’t contribute that way, then he wanted them to at least support him for his bravery. Nikolas hopes they will eventually become advocates for survivors and demand safer working conditions.

Over the years, Nikolas has been open about the alleged abuse he suffered from Nickelodeon executives. According to the actor, he was pressured to consume alcohol at the age of 18 and was given an unwanted massage by his superiors. He also said that he was offered hush money to cover it up.

Nikolas previously revealed an incident that happened on the show when Britney, Jamie’s sister, shouted at him. Although the artist has apologized, Nikolas says Nickelodeon has yet to do so. “He has apologized to me personally,” the actress said. “Actually, Britney Spears apologized, but Nickelodeon didn’t. isn’t that funny? Yes, it was Britney Spears who apologized, and not Nickelodeon.”

Besides Nikolas, “Elvis” star Austin Butler will also not be part of the “Zoey 101” reboot. The actor played one of the familiar faces, James Garrett, on the show and was in several episodes until it went off the air in 2008. The reruns will take place today, nearly two decades after the show was rebooted in 2005.

The entire cast, minus Jamie, Butler, and Nikolas, met in Los Angeles in 2019 and posted clips of themselves. The video features them all telling Jamie they miss her before launching into the theme song “Zoey 101.” They said, “We miss you; we wish you could be here.”

Jamie shared the video on her Instagram page with the caption, “Not only do I miss the reunion, but I also miss FaceTime because I’m limping and falling asleep. thanks for the video, and hope to see you soon.”
