“Deputies looking for a DUI suspect found him the hard way,” Virginia officials said on Facebook Wednesday.
The Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office is on the hunt for a reported drunken driver around 2:45 p.m. Dec. 1 after receiving numerous calls reporting his suspicious behavior.

The truck failed to follow a curve in the road and crossed the yellow dividing line — right into Kreiter’s patrol car.
The footage shows that Kreiter tried to veer off the road and exit the road, but was blocked by a tree to his right and another traveling car to his left.
The accused drunk driver swiped the left side of the patrol car so hard that it was shot from the rear wheel. Debris from the collected cars was left littered on the road.
The deputy tried to avoid the road, but was struck on the left side of the car. Spotsylvania (Va.) Sheriff’s Office.
Fortunately, Kreiter, who was assigned to the traffic division, was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The alleged intoxicated driver, 57-year-old John Anthony Fields, was arrested at the scene and charged with driving under the influence, reckless driving, and failure to keep on the right side of the highway.
He was booked into the Central Virginia Regional Jail and later released on bond.

A driver convicted of a first DUI offense faces a minimum penalty of a $250 fine and a one-year driver’s license revocation.
