Amanda Seyfried Is ‘Very Open’ To Cameo Role In ‘Mean Girls: The Musical’

Amanda Seyfried may soon be making a cameo in an old classic!

After starring in soap operas from a very young age, she rose to fame with her debut in the cult classic “Mean Girls.” A few years later, the film would make a comeback, this time as a musical. And it looks like the star might be making a surprise appearance.

Amanda Seyfried Teases Cameo in New Musical Adaptation of ‘Mean Girls’

At the recent Critics’ Choice Awards, the former teen star stopped for a quick chat on the red carpet. Speaking to ET, she explained her absence from the Golden Globes and noted that she was working on the musical “Thelma and Louise” with Evan Rachel Wood.

When asked if she’ll be at the theater for the premiere of “Mean Girl,” she teased that she’ll “get together as early as possible.” The interviewer responded and excitedly asked the blonde beauty, “Oh did you do a little cameo in the movie,” to which she replied:

“I don’t know, I don’t know. I honestly don’t know for sure, but I’m very open to it.”

Although she became very popular for being in the film, the “Veronica Mars” guest star revealed that the role almost cost her her career. In Hollywood, being typecast for a certain part is common, except for a few who can break free, opening more doors and opportunities to grow in their field.

While some may be fine with sticking to what they are most familiar with, others can mold themselves into different roles across the many genres available. Sometimes those types have to stay and fight to break free, and it seems the “In Time” actress is one of them.

The Blast shared that she opened up about how her burgeoning acting career was almost “punched” by her blonde role as Karen Smith on “Mean Girls.” In the film, Karen is part of “The Plastics,” a group of rich and popular mean girls. Being better in the group doesn’t mean anything because he doesn’t know anything either – the very definition of “stupid blonde.”

In an interview with Variety, the “Jennifer’s Body” star admitted that the 2004 film helped her get her foot in the door but almost got her stuck in a certain kind of policy. He said:

“Mean Girls put me on the map; it set my foot to the door. But getting pigeonholed is something you have to fight against. In 2004, I had to be careful not to be a beautiful blonde.”

The “All My Children” guest star revealed that it was her involvement in the movie, “Big Love,” that broke the hold of “Karen Smith.” He added, “All the auditions I had for my first pilot season were like blonde girlfriends. I’m not going to be the leader because, for whatever reason, I’m not up to it. I don’t know what it is.”

The 36-year-old recalls auditioning for the film, but because the role was to be a “supporting character,” he refused to join the cast even though he wanted to work with the cast. Luckily, he didn’t have to wait much longer as another opportunity that took him in a different direction came knocking.

‘The Dropout’ Star Recalls Acting Without Underwear To Keep Her Job

When it comes to unforgettable faces in the film industry, Seyfried is definitely on the list, as she is known for her brilliant performances in many big productions. The “Mamma Mia” actress is also famous for the lack of sense of entitlement fame brings to her profession.

The Blast reports that the Pennsylvania native while speaking with Porter’s Tyler McCall, described himself as an indestructible professional. In the interview, she revealed some of the ways she learned to protect herself from the pressures of her career.

The Golden Globe Award winner also admits to being lucky – being in the right place at the right time. Seyfried stated that she disliked the 20s version of herself because of some of the things she said and was worried about making a name for herself in the industry.

As part of the “pre-#MeToo era,” she recalls the many uncomfortable positions she’s been in, especially when she was 19 and had to act without any underwear to keep her job and avoid upsetting anyone.
