Amy Duggar Slams Jim Bob & Michelle Duggar’s Criticism Of ‘SHP’ Documentary

Amy Duggar shares her unfiltered thoughts about her family! Nephews Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar are calling out the reality TV stars for reacting poorly to new documents about the clan’s dark secrets.

The Duggars rose to fame as the focus of the canceled TLC series “19 Kids and Counting.” The program followed the ultra-conservative beliefs of the extended family, which encouraged modesty and steadfast adherence to their IBLP teachings.

A recent Amazon Prime Video documentary revealed the inner workings of the TV clan’s past, including the sexual abuse scandal of eldest son Josh Duggar. However, the scorned man’s parents were not satisfied with airing their dirty laundry publicly.

In a recent discussion, the 36-year-old shared his relatives’ response to the four-episode documentary “Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets.” The program explores the former TLC star’s life as a member of the controversial Institute on Basic Life Principles (IBLP).

After the show’s debut, the head of the Duggar clan opened up about the Prime Video content on their website. The couple expressed their displeasure with the documents, stating that their problems should be resolved in private.

“The recent documentary about our family is heartbreaking as we watch the media and those with evil intentions hurt our loved ones,” the couple’s joint statement began. “Like any other family, ours has also experienced the joys and sorrows of life, just in a very general format.”

According to Lovebirds, the program “Shiny Happy People” portrays various people and situations in a “derogatory and sensational way” for entertainment. Despite their distaste for the show, the Duggar patriarch and parents say they love their family.

“We have always believed that the best chance to repair a broken relationship, or to reconcile differences, is through love in a private setting,” their statement continued. “We love every member of the family and will continue to do everything we can to have a good relationship with each member.”

Ending their post by showing their strong faith, the couple wrote: “Through both triumphs and trials, we grow stronger in our faith and find that through the love and grace of Jesus, we find strength, comfort, and purpose.”

Following their fiery statement on the tell-all documentary, Amy slammed the dynamic couple for failing to admit their wrongdoing. “I think this is a moment where they can say, like, we made a mistake, didn’t we? I mean, it’s for the whole world to see,” the 36-year-old told ET Canada.

The mother-of-one believes the couple can use the opportunity to “humble themselves” rather than show remorse and refuse to acknowledge survivors. The Arkansas native accused the couple of living with “their heads in the clouds.”

Amy said the couple “didn’t think about the hurt people going through hell, including their daughter.” The media personality lamented: “What a shame. And for me, it’s gaslighting. It’s just selfish about it.”

Jill Duggar Reveals It Was Hard to Join a Documentary About Her Family

A few weeks before Jim Bob and Michelle hit back at the “Shiny Happy People” docuseries, Jill Duggar admitted that she hesitated before sharing her story in the Prime Video documentary. In a clip for the show, the blonde beauty sits down with her husband, Derick Dillard, to discuss her family’s “cult-like” religion.

The Arkansas native noted that opening up about her experience with disgraced pastor Bill Gothard’s IBLP foundation was difficult. “Yeah, I mean, this interview isn’t easy, and I don’t want to do it,” the entertainer said nervously.

“There’s a lot there. Do I want to open that can of worms?” continued the mother of three children. While reflecting on her participation in the show, the “Hope” star shared her story, including her brother’s sexual abuse scandal.

In 2015, the Duggars announced that Josh was guilty of inappropriately touching his four younger sisters and a nanny during his teenage years. Victims among his siblings include Jill and Jessa.

Reflecting on the traumatic experience, the 32-year-old admitted: “It was difficult to go through. There are many families in the same situation. But it was very different, in the sense that my family was on television.
