“And Just Like That” is the latest iteration of “Sex and the City,” and fans are thrilled to see Sarah Jessica Parker revisit her much-loved character, Carrie Bradshaw. Of course, there’s another similarity between Parker and Bradshaw, and it’s cats!
Sarah Jessica Parker Gives Home ‘Shoes’

In a recent post, Sarah Jessica Parker posted a photo of a very familiar cat. Fans of the sequel series, “And Just Like That” recognize the cat as Shoe, the new kitten that Carrie Bradshaw took in after Che Diaz took her to her apartment. While Bradshaw wonders if he can keep the kitten, it seems Sarah Jessica Parker or SJP have no doubts about it in real life, along with Matthew Broderick.
In a recent IG post, Parker put up a few pictures of the cat, captioning the carousel:
“Her off camera name is Lotus. She and her siblings were all given botanical names when they were rescued as newborns by @cthumanesociety. Officially adopted by the Parker/Broderick family in April 2023. She joins Rémy and Smila who we adopted May 2022. If he looks normal, it’s because he is.X, SJ”
Although most of the photos are of Shoe, not Lotus, in one photo Parker is seen hugging her, along with more photos of Lotus with her siblings.
Fans were overwhelmed by Lotus/Shoe’s cuteness, as well as the Parker/Broderick family’s generosity in adopting her, although the Connecticut Humane Society had something to say about the famous foster home!

Fans seem to praise Shoe in the series, as one person wrote, “He was the best part of the episode!!!!”
The news of SJP adopting Lotus gave fans pause, as one person wrote, “And Just like that Lotus is going to have an amazing life…” Another gushed, “And just like that, @sarahjessicaparker shows us (again) how how great he is as a human being.”
Michelle Pfeiffer also found Lotus to be “Awww…so cute!” while Katie Couric loved him and found him “So Cute!”
Another fan already felt the bond, writing, “I know he’s your real cat. You can’t fake that bond…” More raved about Parker, writing, “I love you more! That’s the sweetest & I think you look so good & familiar with the kitty cats on the show! Great!”
One Instagram user had an interesting comment to share, writing, “We adopted Fern from the same litter. When I brought her home, they told me her siblings were on the set of ‘And Just Like That.’ He is healthy and the sweetest snuggle bug ever. We love him so much!”

Shoe Apart, Kim Cattrall’s Cameo Delights Fans

Although Shoe/Lotus has its fans, with one writing, “Shoes are the best addition to the SATC universe. Please add more Shoes next season,” others were more excited about Kim Cattrall’s cameo, as she reprized the role of Samatha Jones for just a few seconds.
Although they’re shown as best friends on “Sex and the City,” Cattrall and Parker may not be best friends IRL. In fact, the two had a rather famous spat, and even for the cameo that Cattrall did, which was prompted by HBO, he recorded his dialogue without seeing or speaking to his former co-stars, Parker, Cynthia Nixon, Kristin Davis, and even the AJLT show runner, Michael Patrick King. All Cattrall shot was a 20-second phone call between SJP’s Jones and Bradshaw and fans begging him to return for season 3.
Of course, that depends on whether Cattrall can bury the hatchet with the rest of the cast, especially Parker and King, until then, all fans can do is hope. So, while fingers crossed for more Samantha Jones, here’s to more Carrie Bradshaw in Shoes!
Of course, you can’t make fans out of everyone, as one IG user wrote, “Also the name “Shoes” doesn’t give anything away at all. It’s like a metaphor for the level of effort the writers put into writing everything in the new show this.”
