Andy Cohen Threatens Defamatory Lawsuit Against Leah McSweeney

Andy Cohen is ready to take Leah McSweeney to court.

Bravo executives, who are also facing a joint lawsuit with the network filed by McSweeney last week, have sent him a letter through his legal team.

In addition to claiming that the cocaine use allegations made against Cohen are not only baseless and defamatory, the letter states that they could lead to a lawsuit against McSweeney.

Cohen’s representatives argued that the majority of the claims McSweeney made against him in the legal filing lacked merit and were untrue.

Explicitly addressing the allegations of cocaine use, they demanded the immediate withdrawal of all allegations regarding “Mr. Cohen’s alleged ‘cocaine use.'”

They warned that failure to withdraw the allegations could result in legal proceedings against the reality star. Cohen’s attorney’s emphasis in the letter reads:

“To be clear: these claims are false. Mr. Cohen has never used cocaine with any cast members on any Real Housewives show or with any other Bravo employees. The absence of any reasonable basis for making such an allegation is confirmed by your own admission.”

The defense emphasized the need to be more specific in the charge, suggesting it showed an absence of substantive knowledge. Therefore, they imply that McSweeney’s claims are baseless.

Cohen’s team believes the 41-year-old made the allegations to attract media attention and, perhaps, a quick financial settlement. They further declare:

“The truth is important. Litigation should not be used to create fake news. And it should not be used as a tool to spread false and malicious lies, in addition to shaking. We demand that you issue an immediate public retraction and apologize to Mr. Cohen. Every day you fail to do so only increases the damage Mr. Cohen has suffered.”

Regarding McSweeney’s reaction to the letter, a source close to him told TMZ that he was puzzled by Cohen’s insistence on publicizing the matter rather than allowing it to be settled in court.

An insider in Cohen’s camp also told the outlet, “Of course, Andy has to defend himself in public with the truth. Why should he be allowed to spew lies about his character?”

McSweeney’s claims against Cohen were made in a lawsuit filed in February

Regarding McSweeney’s alleged drug use against Cohen, the first indicated in legal documents submitted to the Southern District of New York last month that Bravo and Cohen violated his employment rights.

He underscored the gravity of his allegations by exposing the network’s purported culture of being heavily influenced by substance use.

He later claimed that the television host “engaged in cocaine use with the Housewives he worked with” while revealing his report, “the penchant for cocaine use with his employees is well-known throughout the Real Housewives franchise.”

Avoiding any names, McSweeney claimed that Cohen had become famous for giving “the housewives with whom he used cocaine better treatment” and “[makes them appear more agreeably [in] edit [of their shows].”

Dragging Cohen further into the ground, the “Real Housewives of New York” alum accused the 55-year-old of “intentionally” using “cocaine with his employees to further promote a workplace culture that thrives on drug and alcohol use.”

Similarly, allegations against Bravo include fostering an environment where substance use is rampant and turning a blind eye to inappropriate sexual behavior.

Specifically, McSweeney’s lawsuit exposed the actions of a Shed Media producer, accusing them of sending unsolicited explicit images to junior production staff.

Despite these claims, it has been reported that the producer has been promoted to a more influential position, as reported by The Blast.

Shed Media is best known for producing “Real Housewives of New York City” [RHONY] and “Real Housewives’ Best Women’s Journey” [RHUGT]among other shows in the “Real Housewives” franchise.
