Savannah Chrisley’s ongoing fight to raise awareness of her parents’ allegedly horrific prison conditions has been confirmed by a whistleblower.
Following the incarceration of Todd and Julie Chrisley on charges of fraud and tax evasion, their daughter actively spread the word about their plight behind bars. Months after he began campaigning for prison reform, an alleged prison employee echoed similar sentiments about the inhumane treatment.

The shocking news came via Todd’s Instagram page even though the father is staying at the Florida Federal Prison Camp in Pensacola.
The correspondence, dated September 16, 2023, was written by an administrative employee from the Pensacola prison. The individual claimed they had worked with three wardens so far, but the “inhumane conditions” they had to face were increasing.
According to the informant, the prison recently experienced an outbreak of COVID-19. Despite the dire crisis, higher-ups allegedly refused to share the news for fear of losing the contract with the Navy.
“Adding insult to injury, Covid returned to our campsite with several confirmed cases, not just those reported online,” prison staff revealed. “But our executive staff was determined to remain silent on Covid because addressing the problem would jeopardize our contract with the Navy.”
“I don’t agree because this kind of thinking puts staff like me in danger. “Even now, there is cross-contamination between prisoners with Covid and the general population every time a prisoner with Covid uses the phone room,” the anonymous writer stressed.

Unfortunately, the dilemma did not end there, as a disgruntled reporter stated that the Pensacola prison was unsafe for both inmates and staff. The worker claimed: “My co-workers and I worked in conditions that exposed myself and all staff to respiratory problems due to uncontrolled black mold.”
“The air conditioning barely works in some buildings and not at all in others,” complained the prison staff. The employee claimed that the prison chaplain recently retired because of the lack of air conditioning in the Chapel and his office.
Also, the situation worsens with the ongoing heat wave as only a few portable air conditioning units are available to cool the building. According to prison staff, the Navy condemned the building in the wake of Hurricane Sally 2020.
Despite this problem, the warden’s response to out-of-control black mold was to use chlorine to combat the problem. However, the task was allegedly handed over to prison inmates. Reflecting on the consequences of this action, the letter writer wrote:
“I was told that the prisoner had skin burns. Several staff, including myself, had to leave the building because the raw chlorine caused eye irritation and breathing difficulties.”
A courageous employee filed an OSHA complaint about the incident, seeking justice for the injured inmate. Unfortunately, the warden discovers their identities and issues disciplinary action to silence them. In another case, the warden’s efforts to defeat the black mold by using staff caused the spores to spread throughout the medical department.

Lamenting their situation, the writer declared: “What’s crazy to me is that both the BOP and the Navy are allowing us to work and operate in these conditions that directly put us in harm’s way.” According to administration staff, the dangers include “potential lung cancer, mesothelioma, lead poisoning, red eyes, skin rashes and congestion.”
The alleged discrimination extends to sexual harassment, as the anonymous writer notes a corrections officer has repeatedly been accused of preying on inmates.
“The union is supposed to protect and represent our best interests. The union is supposed to make sure we are treated fairly and properly. Our camp is another Camp Lejune waiting to happen. PLEASE HELP!” The reporters concluded their letter.
In the caption of the post, Savannah revealed the shocking message was emailed to her. “Picture this: the irony of a government shutdown is looming, and I received an anonymous email from a staff member at @bureauofprisons FPC Pensacola voicing their concerns about the inhumane working conditions,” the reality TV star wrote.
“Now, if the conditions are inhumane for the staff, they must be inhumane for the prisoners as well. How could WARDEN let this happen? What will the union do about it? Did @apnews @foxnews @cnn media report this situation affecting staff & inmates?” Savannah wondered.
Julie Chrisley Lives Among Rattlesnakes
In July, Savannah and her brother Chase addressed their parents’ poor living conditions in prison during the “Unlocked with Savannah Chrisley” episode.

Using the word “nightmare,” the older son recalled, “Now they both don’t have air conditioning … they’re both in a state where it’s 100 degrees and there’s no air conditioning.”
He added that his mother lives among venomous snakes in his prison at the Federal Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky. “He had a cobra crawling on the floor in front of him,” he said. “That’s where he sleeps.”
“I don’t care if you kill someone – if you’re in a government facility, you should have air conditioning. That’s just, like, ridiculous,” Chase said. “It’s not ‘Fear Factor.’
