Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss rose to fame after finishing second on “So You Think Can Dance.” He then worked on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show”, where he quickly became a fan favorite.
Sadly, the 40-year-old killed himself earlier this week after he suddenly left home without notice and checked into a motel Monday night.
Many stars and celebrities have taken to social media to pay tribute to the beloved dancer, including Ellen DeGeneres herself. Now, “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” producer Andy Lassner is speaking out.

Andy Lassner shared a beautiful photo of ‘tWitch’ to Instagram, along with a heartfelt message.
“So many people on social media are posting their pictures with Twitch,” he began writing. “Talking about their close friendship with him. Talk about the texts they exchanged with him last week. Talk about the conversation they once had with him. The thing is – it’s all true. Everything is real.”
He went on to talk about the dancer’s legacy, noting how selfless and kind he was to everyone. “Those who know him are not trying to make this tragedy about themselves. They’re just trying to convey to you who Twitch is. He makes everything about you. He makes you feel like the most important person in the world. And he does this for everyone. Not just the people he needs or who are “important”. He did it for everybody,” Lassner continued. “He’s everybody’s friend.”
“She’s our fire. Our joy. Our dancer,” the producer said before talking about mental health and how ‘tWitch’ struggles without anyone knowing. “There’s a heavy weight none of us realize she’s carrying. She must be very tired . But we don’t know because he never wanted that about him. Ever.”
Lassner goes on to ask the world to stop wondering why and how and, instead, “be thankful for the gift he gave us by allowing us to take the light from his flame.”

In 2014, Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss joined “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” as a guest DJ, but the show quickly gave him a permanent role after he charmed the audience and other stars. He was promoted to co-executive producer status in 2020.
The show’s host, Ellen DeGeneres, released a statement after learning of her cast member’s death earlier this week.
“I’m heartbroken,” he wrote in an Instagram post. “TWitch is pure love and light. He is my family, and I love him with all my heart. I will miss it. Please send your love and support to Allison and her beautiful children – Weslie, Maddox and Zaia.
‘tWitch’ Leaves Suicide Note

Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss checked into a motel on Monday morning. He took an Uber to the motel, which was less than a mile from his home in LA, and put his phone on airplane mode so no one could call or track him.
Hotel staff claimed the beloved DJ and dancer did not appear to be in any kind of distress and did not seem upset when she checked in. The 40-year-old star had a small bag with her and had booked a room for one night.
On Tuesday, ‘tWitch’ missed check-out, and that’s when hotel staff went to check on her and found her dead in her hotel room. Law enforcement responded to a 9-1-1 call early Tuesday morning, shortly before the news broke.
Police officials have since released additional details, including a suicide note left by ‘tWitch’ in the motel room. While specific details of the note have not been released, law enforcement said the note mentioned “past challenges,” though it was unclear what he meant.
