Angry drivers try to move Jewish protesters who shut down LA freeway during rush hour

Angry Los Angeles drivers got out of their cars to help police car protesters off the freeway during morning rush hour after they blocked it for hours.

Several drivers were seen grappling with protesters – from the group IfNotNow LA, which is calling for a cease-fire in Gaza – who were defiantly sitting in line to stop the freeway Wednesday morning.

Fed-up drivers yelled at protesters to move, tore down their signs, and one man was even seen pinning another to the hood of a car in the southbound lanes of the 110 Freeway, videos posted to social media shows.

“You idiots only hurt working people,” shouted a frustrated driver.

The protest group described themselves as “anti-Apartheid American Jews who seek to end our community’s support for the Israeli occupation of Palestine” and while occupying the highway, chanted in Hebrew, erected a seven-foot menorah and shouted: “Shut up,” according to Los Angeles Times.

Protest organizer IfNotNow – a Jewish organization calling for an end to US support for Israel – apologized to the drivers for disrupting their journey, but said they thought the only way to get their message across was to do so. Reuters

Protest organizers apologized to drivers for disrupting their journeys, but said it was the only way to get their message across.

“We have tried everything. We have called, we have marched, we have sung, we have prayed. We have written letters and visited offices,” IfNotNow spokesperson Noa Kattler-Kupetz told The Times.

“Yet politicians like President Biden continue to break down the wall, and Israel continues to slaughter thousands of innocent Gazans. Enough. We cannot wait another day.”
