Anne Hathaway has revealed how her life changed after she won an Oscar for “Les Miserables.”

The famous actor revealed that instead of landing more roles, the nod resulted in him being bashed by Hollywood for his “toxic identity” online.

Ultimately, her life — and her career — were saved when Christopher Nolan backed her appearance in “Interstellar.”

Hathaway opened up about the barrage of criticism she faced in the early 2010s, starting in 2011 when she co-hosted the Oscars with James Franco.

At the time, the phenomenon, dubbed “Hathahate,” offended critics with its sincerity, awkwardness and perceived “obnoxious” nature.

The feud peaked in 2013 when the now 41-year-old won an award for his performance in “Les Misérables” and delivered a heartfelt acceptance speech.

Although she’s never said it publicly, Hathaway claims in a new interview with Vanity Fair that she’s aware of how people perceive her online. Eventually, that dislike spilled over into his career, resulting in a drought. He stated:

“A lot of people wouldn’t give me a role because they were so concerned about how toxic my identity had become online.”

Fortunately, Hathaway “had an angel in Christopher Nolan, who didn’t care about” what was shared online and gave her “one of the most beautiful roles I’ve ever had in one of the best movies I’ve ever been in.” The Primetime Emmy Award winner added :

“I don’t know if he knew that he was supporting me at the time, but it had that effect. And my career didn’t lose momentum like it could have if he didn’t support me.”

That singular effort also helped Hathaway overcome the cautionary advice she received as a teenage actress that her Hollywood career would end when she reached a certain age. He asserted:

“When I started as a child, I was warned that my career would fall off a cliff at 35, which I know a lot of women face.”

The New York City native explained that while it’s “great” that “more women are having careers deeper into their lives,” there’s still work to be done.

In his words, “Obviously, this doesn’t mean we should have a ticker tape parade — someone said this to me the other day: ‘There’s a lot to be proud of and a lot to improve on.'”

Another aspect of her life she reflects on is the devastating loss she felt after her miscarriage in 2015.

When the incident happened, Hathaway took to Instagram to post a black-and-white mirror selfie that showed off her baby bump.

Under the image, which was uploaded in July 2019, the “Brokeback Mountain” screen queen informed her followers:

“It’s not for the movies… All kidding, for all the people out there with infertility and pregnancy h—l, please know it wasn’t a straight line for one of my pregnancies. Sending you extra love.”

When asked about her motivation for using those words to announce her pregnancy during her chat with Vanity Fair, Hathaway explained:

The effects of the miscarriage were all the more severe as Hathaway had to hide her pain while portraying a pregnant character in her one-woman off-Broadway play, “Grounded.”

“The first time, it didn’t work out for me. I was doing a play, and I had to give birth on stage every night,” she recalls.

Although the New York University graduate kept the miscarriage a secret from the public, she confided in her close circle, finding solace in sharing her truth with them.

“I had to keep it real otherwise…So when it went well for me, having been on the other side — where you have to have grace to be happy for someone — I wanted to tell my sisters, ‘You don’t have to be graceful . I see you, and I’m with you.'” he revealed.
