As The Blast previously reported, Homer has been in an ongoing legal battle with her ex-boyfriend, James Tupper. After he died, the two had an argument over who would control his estate. Although Heche died without a will, the court granted Homer authority over his late mother’s estate.

A month after his death, Tupper claimed that Heche asked him to control his assets in the event of his untimely death in an email dated more than ten years ago. According to legal documents obtained by The Blast, the court sided with Homer, and he can now “take possession of all personal property of the deceased’s estate and preserve it from damage, waste, and injury.”
