Anne Heche’s Son Unveils Cover Of Her Memoir: ‘Call Me Anne’

Anne Heche’s son, Homer Heche Laffoon, continued his late mother’s legacy months after she passed away.

The late actress’ eldest child, who she shared with her ex-husband, Coleman Laffoon, is preparing to launch her second set of memoirs while still coming to terms with her passing. He recently gave fans details about the upcoming book release and appreciated them for their kind comments on social media.

Laffoon doesn’t seem like he’s going to let his mother’s death stop him from doing great things for her. To that end, the 20-year-old announced Thursday that the memoir, written by Heche before his death, will be published posthumously in the near future.

Posting on behalf of the “Spread” star, Laffoon gave fans a look at the cover of her upcoming book — “Call Me Anne” — and a heartfelt thank you for the support and love she received after her mother’s passing.

“Hi Everyone, Homer here. Never thought I’d find myself in charge of a mother’s IG account, but here we are,” he said in a lengthy Instagram caption. He noted that the “amount of love, care and support shown” by people on social media and in real life “has been overwhelming and blessed” before revealing:

“One day at a time works for me, because I’m sure the healing journey will be a long one. Your kind thoughts and good wishes will continue to comfort me on my way.

Laffoon explained that since she posted on her mother’s account, she had a “responsibility to share with her community what she is working on and how excited she is to tell you herself.”

Adding that the book is the “result” of Heche’s “further efforts to share his story and help others where he can,” the California native revealed:

“Call Me Anne is the result, and I know she’s excited to share it with the world. So, mom, here I am sharing it with the community you’ve created, may it grow and take on a life of its own [SIC] yours, as you wish.”

Laffoon also informed fans that a celebration of life event is set to be held on January 24 at the Barnes & Noble bookstore at The Grove in Hollywood. The event will feature readings from a book detailing the “Volcano” actor’s childhood sexual abuse, his relationship with God and beloved TV host Ellen DeGeneres, and his own journey of love.

In a September report, The Blast shared that Heche also addressed his sexuality, writing that it’s easier to describe him as “alien” than straight or gay. In his words:

“I had never been with a woman before I dated Ellen. I do not, personally, identify as a lesbian. I just fell in love! There are no words to describe my feelings. Gay doesn’t feel right, and so does straight. Alien might be the best fit, sometimes I think.”

The late 53-year-old also explained that his actions confused his loved ones as much as they confused him, stating, “What, why, and how I fell in love with someone instead of their gender, I would love to answer if anyone asked, but as I said earlier, no one ever asked. I am glad that I can tell you in this book – once and for all.

In case you missed it, DeGeneres and Heche were an iconic couple of the late 90s because they were the first openly lesbian couple in an industry that was still closed to the LGBTQ community.

Laffoon Became Appointed Administrator of the Heche Estate Last Year

In October, The Blast noted that Laffoon had enjoyed legal aid when a fraudster appointed him as the personal representative and administrator of his mother’s estate. Legal documents reveal that the court has granted the young man “special powers” to control the “Call Me Crazy” author’s estate.

In short, Laffoon now has the power to “take possession of all the personal property of the deceased’s estate and preserve it from damage, waste and injury.”

He was awarded the right to protect the profits in a “publishing agreement” of Heche’s soon-to-be-published memoir. Additionally, Laffoon can receive a copy of the “Girl in Room 13” star’s financial records and file a personal tax return on her behalf.

You’ll recall that the multiple Emmy Award winner was declared brain dead — the definition of death according to California law — on August 12, a week after she was involved in a horrific car accident.
