After an active weekend in the Northeast, another major winter weather system is moving across the central and eastern US, bringing the opportunity for blizzard conditions, severe weather, flooding and widespread power outages.
A strong low pressure system started in the Southwest and will move through the central Plains, into the Midwest, and finally end its fury along the East Coast before exiting by midweek.
Here are the latest impacts and times for the winter weather system hitting the US to start the work week.
Blizzard to hit Central Plains, Midwest
Winter is advancing, with blizzard warnings and winter storm warnings in effect from New Mexico and the Texas Panhandle northeastward through Illinois and Wisconsin. This warning will continue to develop as the system moves out of the Southwest and into the Plains on Monday.
High winds will also accompany the snow, limiting visibility with blowing snow.
As cold air envelops this low pressure system, snowfall amounts will range from a few inches to a foot where snow bands form.

Bad weather, floods hit the South
The South will experience severe weather on Monday and Tuesday as this system pulls in a lot of moisture from the Gulf of Mexico, increasing both the chance for strong thunderstorms and flash flooding.
Severe thunderstorms are likely from Texas through Florida on Monday evening and into early Tuesday, bringing favorable conditions for damaging winds, hail and even a few tornadoes.
In addition to the threat of bad weather, heavy rain will lead to an increased risk of flash flooding throughout the Southeast.
Storms will continue on Tuesday morning and will continue into the evening as thunderstorms move into the Southeast.

Widespread power outages, flooding may occur in the Northeast
As the system continues to track eastward through the US, the storm will bring heavy rain and strong winds to the Northeast on Tuesday and Wednesday.
With already saturated ground and several inches of snowpack across the interior after the weekend or even Easter, heavy rain combined with strong winds could knock down trees and power lines, resulting in widespread power outages.
Strong winds will continue through Wednesday as the system moves out of the region.
