Hollywood actor Chris Evans stars in the title role, gracefully embodying the role in the film and across two more sequels, “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” and “Captain America: Civil War.”
However, his run in the role ended in “Avengers: Endgame,” and the mantle of playing the role seems to have fallen to The Falcon/Sam Wilson, portrayed by Anthony Mackie. Mackie has now discussed whether fans will be Chris Evans’ cameo in the upcoming sequel “Captain America 4.”

At the D23 Expo, Mackie discussed the possibility that Evans’ Steve Rogers could appear in the upcoming sequel, “Captain America: New World Order.” The actress shared that despite “everything” going on with the film’s production, she still wishes she could star alongside Evans.

Mackie jokingly referenced that his “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” co-stars, Sebastian Stan and Wyatt Russell, landed roles opposite each other in Marvel’s Thunderbolts. For that reason, he felt it was only right for the racers to also bring Evans home for “Captain America 4.”

“I’m so upset that they put Sebastian in a movie with Wyatt and left me out. If Sebastian gets Wyatt, I have to get Chris,” per Diversity.
While the actor’s statement didn’t directly address whether Evans would return in the next sequel, it does indicate that the notion is on many people’s minds, including Mackie and Marvel fans.

Mackie previously starred in “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier,” which follows the events after Steve Rogers Evans quits being Captain America. It debuted on March 19, 2021 and ran for six episodes until April 23.

Ultimately, only time will tell if Evans makes a comeback as Captain America. If he does return, it will probably be in a flashback scene or a supporting role while Mackie takes the lead.

If Evans doesn’t return, he will be remembered by Marvel fans as they look forward to whatever new narrative the cast is planning to follow in the upcoming sequels. Other cast details are still under wraps, aside from the fact that Mackie will be featured in the film. Fans have no choice but to wait until the teaser is released in 2023.
