AOC claims ‘all’ underage women will face ‘genital examinations’ if biological men barred from female sports

“Squad” representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, DN.Y., claimed that “all” underage women would face “genital inspection” if biological males were banned from women’s sports.

Ocasio-Cortez made her claim during a Tuesday House Oversight Subcommittee on Health hearing that featured NCAA swimming legend and women’s sports advocate Riley Gaines.

The New York Democrat said there are some proposals that seek to “marginalize” transgender Americans before claiming during questioning that women should have their pants checked if someone doesn’t believe their gender.

“We’re talking about opening up all women and girls to genital examinations when they’re underage, potentially just because someone can point to someone and say, I don’t think you’re a girl,” she claimed.

“And we’re saying this in a post-Dobbs American environment, where states have criminalized access to abortion and want nothing more than data about women to know when, who gets a period, who doesn’t, and we’re supposed to believe this will make are we better and safer?”

“I don’t think so, and, as usual, I can’t believe we’re sitting here on a panel of men who really think about the biological consequences and privacy of all women, trans or cisgendered,” added the “Squad” Democrat.

Ocasio-Cortez’s lawsuit comes nearly a year after the Ohio state Senate removed a controversial provision from a state House proposal that barred biological males from competing with females, requiring “internal and external” exams to confirm the gender of student athletes.

Ohio Senate Republicans replaced that provision with a requirement for student-athletes whose gender is in question to “present a copy of the participant’s original birth certificate” in order to compete.

“I’m not sure why that’s in the bill, it’s not necessary,” State Senate President Matt Huffman said of the June 2022 genital exam provision.

“All of these tests can be done with a simple DNA swab,” Huffman added.

Tuesday’s hearing saw fireworks from the start as Gaines, a vocal supporter of keeping women’s sports limited to biological women, fired back at fellow “Squad” Ocasio-Cortez, Rep. Summer Lee, D-Pa.

Lee called Gaines’ testimony, as well as the testimony of other women leaders who want to restrict women’s sports to biological women, “transphobic” in his opening remarks.

Gaines censured Lee, a ranking member of the House Oversight Subcommittee on Health, after the Squad member photographed him on the witness stand.

“There’s a place for everyone to play sports in this country,” Gaines said, noting that transgender Americans are included in his view. “But unsafe, unfair and discriminatory practices must stop.”

“Inclusion cannot come before safety and fairness,” the former NCAA swimmer said in her opening remarks. “And ranking member Lee, if my testimony makes me ‘transphobic’, then I believe your opening monologue makes you a misogynist.”
