Archana Kochhar was born on Tuesday, 29 August 1972 (age 50 years; in 2022) in Mumbai. Archana Kochhar holds an MBA degree. She runs a luxury fashion brand titled Archana Kochhar whose flagship store is based in Juhu, Mumbai. When Archana was 16, she organized her own fashion show for the first time.
When I was 16 years old, I did an exhibition for which I rented a 1,000 square foot hall. I was younger then and thought anything was possible. It worked. I sell pieces and make money from them. That is my cornerstone. People accept my designs. When we see the world appreciate our art, it encourages us.”

Career
Archana started her career as a wedding saleswoman and worked in a rented shop in Mumbai. At that time, she only had a collection of women’s clothing. Archana claimed fame by designing and showcasing her collection of lehengas, saris, gowns, dresses and anarkalis at many popular fashion week shows like Lakmé to New York Fashion Week.
Archana Kochhar has dressed celebrities for the Cannes Film Festival and received an invitation from the biggest shopping mall in Paris, Galeries Lafayette, to showcase her couture collection alongside international brands such as Armani, Versace, Prada and Gucci. Various famous Indian celebrities including Shah Rukh Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Jeetendra, Shaan, Falguni Pathak, and Prabhu Deva have promoted Archana Kochhar’s collection during various fashion runways, award functions and private events.
In 2021, Archana collaborated with a brand called Snugkins and designed India’s first branded cloth diapers for babies.

Warli Tribe Campaign
In 2015, Archana Kochhar worked for a collection called ‘Ahimsa Resam,’ promoting the ‘Make in India’ campaign started by Narendra Modi. He launched Ahimsa Resam with the objective of generating employment in the weaving community to empower women at the 6th Annual Indian Leadership Conclave of Indian Affairs 2015 in Mumbai. The award-winning designer is actively working with tribal women weavers from Jharkhand on ‘Ahimsa silk’ fabric. ‘The Warli Tribe’ collection has been inspired by the primal wood sculpture art of the Warli tribe in Maharashtra.
Banjara Tribe Campaign
In 2016, she showcased a ‘Banjara’ style collection at New York Fashion Week, inspired by the nomadic tribe, the Banjara, of South India to raise awareness of the tribe’s culture.
Global Disability Inclusion Campaign
During the 2016 Global Disability Inclusion Campaign at New York Fashion Week, Archana Kochhar promoted the ‘Bring Beauty Back’ movement with acid attack survivor Reshma Qureshi.
In 2018, the Global Disability Inclusion Campaign aims to give people with disabilities the same opportunities as everyone else on the fashion playground. Archana Kochhar’s ‘The Ahimsa Collection’ showcased at New York Fashion Week featured women with disabilities on the ramp, in the spirit of the campaign.
