Associate Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis will host a fundraiser for her in Manhattan on Wednesday, as she and two other New York prosecutors seek convictions and civil penalties against former President Donald Trump.
Willis will take donations ranging from $251 to $3,300 at the event, for which interested parties must RSVP to secure the location — potentially giving his re-election campaign a big boost months before voters go to the polls.
The night before the fundraiser, Willis will be honored as the 2023 Most Influential Black Person by the black-focused publication The Root at the Apollo Theater in Harlem.
“He gained notoriety by indicting 19 co-defendants, including former President Donald Trump, in a high-profile case related to efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election,” The Root announced.

“Willis has a history of successfully pursuing conspiracy and racketeering charges, using the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) to secure convictions. New York Attorney General Letitia James and Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg have also been in the national spotlight for bringing the case against Trump earlier this year, but it is unclear whether they will attend.

In April, Bragg filed the first criminal case against a former president when he indicted Trump on 34 counts of business fraud for allegedly falsifying records to hide “hush money” payments by his legal fixer Michael Cohen to porn star Stormy Daniels and Playboy model Karen McDougal before the election. His campaign raised about $20,000 in contributions and spent about $11,000 in 2021, according to filings with the Georgia Government Campaign Finance and Transparency Commission.

Trump has made his impeachment a feature of his campaign, airing several TV ads claiming he is a target of the Biden administration.
