Austin Butler has officially become Elvis 2.0.
The American actor can’t seem to shake his deep and soulful Elvis accent even though the movie “Elvis” will be released on June 24, 2022.
Following her Golden Globes win on Jan. 10, Butler’s new accent might just be the MOST meme, GIF, and mocked thing on the internet.

Butler took home the Globe for Best Actor in a Motion Picture for his portrayal of Elvis.
During his acceptance, his familiar voice was overshadowed by his accent and the internet wasn’t sure how he felt about it.

Others simply tweeted their disapproval.

“Seeing Austin Butler’s voice dragged on social media. This is the best Golden Globes ever ?,” wrote another.
Someone questioned whether Butler’s voice would stay like this forever writing, “Trying to figure out if this will be Austin Butler’s voice forever?”
Also, one fan urged Hollywood to cast him as the late comedian Gilbert Gottfried so his voice would be stuck in that accent.
“Dear Hollywood, please cast Austin Butler as the leading man in the Gilbert Gottfried biopic so his voice can jam like that next,” they tweeted.
During his post-awards speech in the press room, Butler explained why he still speaks in an Elvis accent despite not realizing it himself.
Butler Explains Why Elvis’ Accent Lasted
“I don’t even think about it. I don’t think I still sound like him, but I guess I must, because I hear him a lot. Um, I often compare it to when someone lives in another country for a long time. I had three years where that was my only focus in life. So, I’m sure there’s only a piece of my DNA that will always be linked that way,” he told reporters.

During his acceptance speech, Butler thanked Priscilla and Lisa Marie Presley in addition to The King himself, Elvis Presley.
“And last but not least, Elvis Presley himself. You are an icon and a rebel, and I love you so much,” he concluded his acceptance speech.
After her first Golden Globes win, Butler met her girlfriend, Kaia Gerber, backstage for a well-deserved congratulatory kiss.
The couple partied at Globes outpost Chateau Marmont and, on the way home, Gerber rested her head on Butler’s shoulder for a cat nap on the way home.
