Aziz Ansari first starred in a film, School for Scoundrels in 2006 where he played the role of a classmate. In 2008, he played the role of Randy in the movie ‘Funny People’. His character as Randy is the subject of one of the film ideas to be developed by Ansari and Jason Wolier for Apatow Productions.

Allegations of sexual misconduct

On January 13, 2018, the website Babe.net published an article from an anonymous 23-year-old woman — referred to as ‘Grace’ about a date night with Ansari. In the article, Grace claims Ansari repeatedly ignored her discomfort with his physical advances and pressured her into having sex. Grace said that it was very difficult for her to extricate herself from the scenario and she ended up going with Uber. Ansari issued a statement the following day in which he said,

It’s true that everything seemed fine to me, so when I heard that it wasn’t the case for him, I was surprised and worried. I took his words to heart and responded personally after taking time to process what he said.”
