Clayton Echard, 29, is the lead on Season 26 of “The Bachelor.” His time on the show was not easy as he admits to making a lot of mistakes and handling things badly.
One of the things he was criticized for was the fact that he told the last three women that he loved them. He also slept with Gabby Windey and Rachel Recchia before the last Fantasy Suite date with Susie Evans, which caused more problems down the road.
“I have no business being a Bachelor with the person I used to be. The person I am [am] will now handle things 100 times better,” he said on the Off the Vine podcast with Kaitlyn Bristowe.
After the show ended, the 29-year-old received a lot of backlash from fans. “I’m trying to figure out what my next step is [and] I started questioning who I was because of all the negativity. I started to believe some of the things that were said about me.”
She continued, “And now I look back and realize, like, I couldn’t be the stable, secure guy that I needed to be to really be able to give my all in a relationship.”

Clayton Echard admitted that his now ex-girlfriend, Susie Evans, was the only person who stopped him from “going off the rails”. Echard chose Evans as her last person on the season of “The Bachelor” after three very messy breakups – one of which was with Evans.
“I don’t think I could have gone through what I went through with anyone but Susie,” Echard said. “He was the only person who would help me see what I saw. And he was the only person who would stop me from going off the rails and doing something really drastic.”
He continued, “Because I had really dark thoughts from the show, moments where I said, you know, ‘It would be better if I just ended the thing’.”

Claaton Echard and Susie Evans announced their separation on September 23, releasing a joint statement via social media:
“We understand that there will most likely be a lot of questions about this decision – social media has definitely been a highlight reel and much of our experience together has been kept private as I’m sure most people can understand,” the couple wrote of their “hurt”. ” the decision to split. “But we will share this – although this past year together has brought us so much joy and so much laughter, there has also been so much pain. We know no healthy relationship comes without its struggles, but we have come to realize that we are not ready for outside forces that hindered our ability to heal as individuals but also as a couple. We are both focused on continuing to work on ourselves, so we can be the best versions of ourselves. … Even though Claysie is gone, we hope that our community can support us individually as we we move forward with love and respect for each other. Thank you all for supporting our relationship. It means more than you will ever know. ❤️”
