Bad Bunny has found himself embroiled in a lawsuit filed by his former lover Hernández whom he dated between 2011 and 2017, per Page Six.
A Puerto Rico-based female attorney is suing the Latin trap and reggaetón singer for using her “distinctive voice” in “songs, records, promotions, worldwide concerts, television, radio, and social and music platforms” without her consent.
His claim references his now-famous voice note, saying “Bad Bunny, baby,” which he recorded for his singer. He allegedly tried to pay her $2000 for the recording last year, but she rejected the deal.
According to reports, Bad Bunny has used the footage in his songs “Pa Ti” and “Dos Mil 16.” The two songs have amassed hundreds of millions of streams on Spotify, making them among the singer’s most popular songs since he began his career in the music industry.
Hernandez is now seeking at least $40 million in damages.

Court documents also state that Hernandez faced emotional trauma because the use of the footage had brought unnecessary scrutiny from the media and other outsiders.
“Since then, thousands of people have commented live on Carliz’s social media networks, as well as whenever he goes out in public, about ‘Bad Bunny, baby.’ This has caused, and is currently causing, that De La Cruz feels worried, sad, afraid, overwhelmed and anxious,” the lawsuit reads.
Since the suit was filed, Bad Bunny has remained silent about the situation, apparently preferring to deal with the issue through the courts.
Additionally, Hernandez has yet to offer any press interviews to further explain why he is suing the singer now.

The couple began dating in 2011, after which they gained admission to the University of Puerto Rico.
Around the same time, Bad Bunny began pursuing a music career and often sought Hernandez’s feedback on his songs, according to reports. He also offered to help her with the logistical side of her career, including scheduling and bookkeeping.
They resumed their relationship in 2015, getting engaged after four years of dating. However, they parted ways when Bad Bunny got his major record label deal with Rimas Entertainment, while Hernandez transferred to law school to further his education.
They briefly resumed their romance in 2017 but broke up the same year and did not reconcile.
