Beloved TV judge Frank Caprio diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, asks for prayers in emotional plea

A beloved Rhode Island traffic judge, known for his unique and loving personality in the courtroom asked for prayers as he revealed he had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

Judge Frank Caprio, 87, star of the reality TV show “Caught in Providence,” said he wasn’t feeling well during his birthday in November and went for a checkup.

“The report is not good,” Caprio said in a video shared earlier this week. “I have been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, which is a dangerous form of cancer.”

Caprio shared that he is fine, thanks to the medical care he received and prays their services will help him.

“I am being treated by a wonderful team of doctors, both here in Rhode Island and at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, Massachusetts,” said the Chief Justice Emeritus. “I pray that God guides their minds and hands in treating me.”

Caprio served as the chief judge of the municipal court in Providence, Rhode Island until his retirement this year.

Caprio said she was prepared for the battle she faced when she began treatment for the disease.

“I know it’s a long road, and I’m fully prepared to fight as hard as I can.”

He asked his fans to pray for him during his treatment.

“I ask each of you, in your own way, to pray for me. I need the power of prayer, which I believe in addition to the medical treatment I receive is the most powerful weapon to help me survive this situation.”

“Just knowing that you keep me in your thoughts means the world to me. So thank you for all your past messages. Thank you for your loving support. And please remember, just a little prayer, I really appreciate it.”

After speaking, the camera jumps to Caprio with his head down, putting his two fists together, as if in prayer as the video and music fades out.

Caprio’s video has received thousands of comments, many from supporters offering their own thoughts and prayers to the Rhode Island native.

“You are the symbol of God’s love on this earth. May God bless you with many more years with your family,” added another.

Some of Caprio’s famous moments are based on the judge’s compassion for the unfortunate people who land in his courtroom.

One video shows a 96-year-old man allegedly speeding in a school zone while taking his 63-year-old son who has cancer to a doctor’s appointment.

Caprio dismisses the case, as he sends the man out with good wishes for both of them.
