President Biden began his rare address to the nation from the Oval Office by staring aimlessly at the camera and stumbling over his words — and then seemingly reading off his teleprompter.
The 80-year-old commander-in-chief looked around, seemingly unaware that he was broadcasting live, before he began to speak, squinting in the glare of the lights.
At one point, Biden appeared to read an autocue command to “explain it” — just as last year he read “repeat the line” in another speech.
“We’re going to have something that we’re not looking for – make it clear we’re not looking for – we don’t want American troops fighting in Russia,” he said.
Biden then fumbled by stating that “you’re all Americans” before correcting himself and saying, “You’re all Americans.”
His clear reading of the instructions quickly sparked mockery online, with several people sharing the clip writing: “Teleprompter- 1 Biden – Zero.”

“When Biden tripped over the teleprompter, knew this was the best way they could get him to address the nation. Absolutely BEST take. Thanks for that man…,” tweeted Robby Starbuckan aspiring filmmaker and politician in Tennessee.
The president addressed the nation shortly after his visit to Israel amid the ongoing war between the Jewish state and the terrorist group, which launched an unprecedented attack on October 7.
He called on Congress to approve billions in new funding for Ukraine, saying “time is of the essence” to prevent a bigger war in Europe and the Middle East.
Biden’s teleprompter problems aren’t his first while using the device.
Last year, he made a similar mistake when he gave an opening speech before signing an executive order aimed at protecting abortion rights following the US Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.

At one point, he quoted from the court’s majority opinion about ending the federally protected right to abortion.
“One of the most remarkable parts of the decision in my view is that the majority wrote, and I quote, ‘Women …’ — it’s a quote now, from the majority — ‘women are not without electoral or political power. It is noteworthy that the percentage of women who register to vote and cast their ballots is consistently higher than the percentage of men who do so.’ End of quote,” Biden said.

He immediately followed by saying “Repeat the line” and quoted the opinion again.
Biden was grilled by social media users who said the words were meant to be instructions for him, not words to be read aloud.
A White House spokesman said Biden intended to say “Let me repeat the line” in his speech.
One of those who mocked him was Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who compared the incident to the 2004 film “Anchorman: The Legend of Rob Burgundy,” in which Will Ferrell’s character made his own flub.
