Biden has to be reminded by Jill that ice cream is his favorite food during rare interview

He only took the “soft treatment” question.

President Biden stumbled in his latest interview when asked about his favorite food — with first lady Jill Biden urging the 81-year-old commander-in-chief to remind him that he enjoys ice cream.

“I’m curious, what kind of holiday food have you been enjoying these past few days?” former “American Idol” host Ryan Seacrest asked the president for ABC’s New Year’s Eve programming Sunday night.

“Well, I’ve eaten everything that’s been put in front of me,” Biden began. “But I used to eat pasta, which I like. I’ve eaten a lot of chicken, chicken parmesan, I’ve eaten all Italian food, basically.

The first lady, who sat down with Biden for the interview, cut in to remind her husband, “And ice cream.”

“And ice cream,” added the president. “Chocolate ice cream.”

The interaction invited mockery on social media.

Ryan Seacrest asked Joe Biden what he had been eating.

Biden: “I’ve eaten everything put in front of me! I’ve eaten pasta, which I love. Eat a lot of chicken, chicken parmesan…”

Then Jill Biden has to remind Joe: “And ice cream!”

“This is a farce at this point, seriously??” a viewer writes on X.

“All those hard questions!” add one more.

Biden, who is campaigning for a second term in next year’s election, has given zero known interviews to newspaper reporters during his nearly three years as president — as polls show public concern about Biden’s mental acuity.

Biden would be 86 if he served a full second term.

President Biden gave a rare interview to Ryan Seacrest after another year of insulting newspaper reporters.

“My hope is that everyone has a healthy, happy and safe new year,” Biden also told Seacrest in the interview, which was taped Saturday while the president was on vacation in St. Croix.

“But more than that I hope they understand that we are in a better position than any country in the world to lead the world.”

White House reporters have noted that the first lady’s presence often keeps her husband on text and there are very few Q&As outside the home on the lawn when she is with him.

At Biden’s most recent extended solo press conference at the White House — in November 2022 — a staffer brought in a front-row seat for the first lady at the last minute. Her husband went on to say that he would call a list of 10 journalists, but left after only nine when he mistakenly said Russian troops were withdrawing from the Iraqi city of “Fallujah” when he meant to say “Kherson” in southeastern Ukraine.

The light-hearted Biden-Seacrest interview comes amid a record-breaking surge in illegal immigration at the US-Mexico border — as Chinese President Xi Jinping pledged in his own New Year’s Eve message to reunite democratic Taiwan with the communist mainland.

Biden is expected to face former President Donald Trump, 77, in a rematch next year. Trump currently leads in national and state polls, despite four pending criminal cases against him, driven in part by Americans’ economic pessimism amid high interest rates and inflation.

A New York Times poll released in November found that 71% of swing state voters said Biden was “too old to be an effective president,” compared to 39% who said the same about Trump.

Biden gave a joint interview with first lady Jill Biden, who is considered an important influence in perpetuating her husband’s message.

A Wall Street Journal poll released in September found that 73% of registered voters believed Biden was too old, compared to 47% who said the same about Trump.
