With 2024 fast approaching, President Biden revealed his New Year’s resolution.
“Mr. President, what is your new year’s resolution?” a reporter asked Biden late Saturday as he left Too Chez Restaurant and Bar in St. Croix, where he and first lady Jill Biden had dinner with their granddaughter Natalie.
“To come back next year,” quipped the president, before adding, “that’s the biggest one right now.”
Biden has been vacationing in St. Croix, located in the US Virgin Islands, since last week, and will return to Washington, DC on Tuesday.
His six-day vacation required a secluded stay at the lush beach house of Bill and Connie Neville, wealthy supporters.
The 81-year-old faces a competitive re-election race in 2024.

Polling has largely shown him underwater against former President Donald Trump, the front-runner for the Republican nomination.
The two men appear set for a rematch of the 2020 election contest, in which Biden emerged victorious.
“If Trump hadn’t run, I’m not sure I would have run,” Biden said at a fundraiser near Boston earlier this month.

Biden’s allies have shrugged off the lackluster polling streak, emphasizing the president’s record exceeds the expectations of the pundit class.
“Time and time again, Biden has exceeded expectations. Happening in 2020, happening in 2022, happening on Tuesday night,” communications director Michael Tyler told reporters in November.
Tyler’s remarks came after Democrats scored several victories in Ohio, New Jersey, Kentucky, Virginia and elsewhere in off-year elections.

“You see days, weeks, months of unbearable predictions about how bad things are going to be for Joe Biden,” he added, “followed by election day with a historic victory.”
If either Biden or Trump wins the election on November 5, 2024 and serves a full term, they will become the longest-serving presidents in US history — a title that Biden currently enjoys.
