Bindi And Robert Irwin Share Tributes To Their Late Father On Steve Irwin Day

Bindi Irwin Shares Her Dad’s Video On Instagram

Steve’s daughter Bindi, 24, shared a touching video on Instagram of her late dad talking about what he wants to be remembered for. “November 15th, #SteveIrwinDay. Join us in your best khakis and celebrate the greatest Wildlife Warrior the world has ever known,” she captioned her loving tribute.

“If there’s one thing I, Steve Irwin, want to be remembered for, it’s being remembered for passion and spirit,” he said in the video. “Conservation is my job, my whole persona. My life revolves around that.”

Many of his fans left comments to pay their respects and leave positive and loving words. “❤️ What a beautiful soul. And the unique legacy you bring. Be proud of what you do. We share a lot with you in the passion and lifestyle of conserving nature – for us and for future generations. 🌏🌱🌊❤️,” wrote one follower. Another added, “this makes me cry… omg if only he knew the impact he made today.. wow.”

Other comments included, “Legends live forever through the lives they have inspired and the positive change they have made and continue to make in our world. 🤎🐊,” “He STILL helps people! We miss you Steve 😢,” “Your dad touched the souls of people and animals around the world. I remember growing up being so mesmerized by him. He seemed like a truly good human being and the world misses him so much. Thank you for carrying on his legacy,” and many more.

Robert Irwin also shared his love for his father

“Today is Steve Irwin Day. It’s a day to remember everything Dad is about – conservation, dedication, fun and family,” Robert, 18, began his caption. “It never ceases to amaze me how much impact Dad had on the world when I see people in every corner of the world celebrating his life and legacy on this special day. ❤️”

Robert’s post also got the attention of many Steve fans. One follower wrote, “I always say he has a heart of gold, it’s so true. I can’t think of a better way to describe it. It is heartwarming and enlightening to see someone who cares so much about nature and all its inhabitants. The world needs more people like him.”

Another follower thanked Robert for carrying on his father’s work saying, “I know how hard it is for you and your family at times, I’m sure there’s a part of you that always misses him. She is an absolute gem in this world 🤍 Thank you for honoring her legacy and continuing to do amazing work, and inspiring others too ❤”

And another fan wrote, “An amazing man, and an amazing family. Your father gave me a lot of hope when I was little – that others would also treat animals well and respect them as living beings. Steve will always be a legend and even on his show you can see how much he adores you & Bindi 🖤”

Children’s group “The Wiggles” also shared a tribute to Steve on Instagram

A special addition to the day will be held at the Australia Zoo where original bandmates The Wiggles will perform in Steve’s honour. The group of children wrote a song called “Crocodile Hunter” and a video was recorded with Steve, his wife Terri and Bindi in 2002. The group shared their own tribute, with the help of Robert, on their Instagram page.

It’s been 16 years since Steve died. On 4 September 2006 while filming a new program off the coast of Port Douglas in Queensland, a stingray stabbed him in the heart and he died of a heart attack. His family has continued his legacy and conservation efforts, keeping his memory alive and well.
