Blake Lively doesn’t let the critics win when it comes to making alcoholic drinks!
In June, the “New York, I Love You” actress took a dramatic turn, launching a collection of canned cocktails, Betty Booze. Unlike other business drink lines, Betty Booze is a mixture of flavors and alcohol. Unfortunately, the addition of booze angered fans who thought it inappropriate for Lively, as she is not a drinker, to be promoting alcohol.
Almost a month after being called out by a fan, the mother of four responded to the fan’s backlash. Read on to learn more!
Blake Lively Pats Critics On The Back For Making Alcoholic Drinks
Over the weekend, the “Gossip Girl” alum made sure critics didn’t have the last word on her decision to start Betty Booze. He took to his Instagram story, declaring that his brand is all about experimenting with flavors. To begin with, she uploaded a beautiful image of herself promoting the drink brand.

In the shot, the mother of four, wearing a shirt she had left unbuttoned, held a sign that read, “21+ Over”. Above it was a large lemonade sign while her Betty Booze cans were displayed on the table. Alongside that image, the wife of actor Ryan Reynolds sets the record straight about her brand.
Lively wrote, “Yes, I still do a Lemonade stand, but obviously alcohol-free. And it sells out fast. I didn’t perfect the recipe until I was in my 20s. It’s lemonade gold.”
She continued, “But the adults in my life always wanted a version with alcohol. That’s where the @bettybooze idea was born. Now they can leave me alone so I can go back to my lemonade stand. It’s so good for my ego.”
The TV star launched the alcoholic beverage brand in June and promoted it on her Instagram. He uploaded a picture with some of the flavors of the drink. The three canned cocktails advertised in his post are; “Sparkling Bourbon with Apple Ginger Sour Cherry,” “Sparkling Tequila with Oak Smoked Lime,” and “Sparkling Tequila with Lime Shiso.”
However, fans criticized Lively’s new brand, with some even calling her a “money grab” for making alcoholic drinks when she’s not a drinker. One fan slammed the actor, writing, “How can you market/create a product that you yourself don’t use openly? Come now!”

“It’s so lame when a celebrity who doesn’t drink is suddenly promoting alcohol,” another critic slammed Lively. A third, echoing the same sentiment, wrote, “Absolutely sick of celebrities squeezing alcohol when they know it’s toxic and dangerous and don’t drink it themselves. Grab money from Celebs.”
Blake Lively Actress Controversy For ‘It Ends With Us’ Movie Adaptation Finally Overcame By Colleen Hoover
Lively’s response comes after her age controversy for the film adaptation of “It Ends With Us” was finally addressed by Colleen Hoover. When the “All I See Is You” actor and Justin Baldoni were announced as the cast for the film adaptation, there was outrage among fans.
Some fans claim that the 39-year-old Baldoni and the 35-year-old Lively are much older than the ages they portray in the film. Lively plays Lily, a 23-year-old who graduates from college and moves to Boston, where she finds love in the arms of a 30-year-old neurosurgeon, Ryle, portrayed by Baldoni.
However, Hoover put fans to rest, addressing the age discrepancy. He says, “When I wrote It Ends With Us, new adults [genre] very popular. You’re writing a college age character. That’s what I was contracted to do.”

He continued, “I didn’t know that neurosurgeons went to school for 50 years. There are no neurosurgeons in their 20s.” For the best-selling author, the film is a way to make amends. “When I started making this film, I was like, ‘We have to age them because I made a mistake.’ So it’s my fault.”
Despite the mistake with the actor’s age, Hoover emphasized that he was satisfied with the actor. He went on to admit that he’s a fan of Lively and has been “obsessed” since watching her on “Gossip Girl.”
While the film was in the works, the author was amazed by what he had seen. “I can see the footage they have recorded so far. I’m not a crybaby. I know that I write an emotional book, but I am not an emotional person. And I cried a lot on set.”
Hoover added, “You’re going to be very happy. I’m very happy, and now my expectations are raised, and I’m going to keep them there.”
