BLM Chicago admits it ‘isn’t proud’ of deleted post showing paragliding terrorist after outrage

The Chicago Black Lives Matter organization that posted a since-deleted graphic that appeared to celebrate Hamas’ slaughter of Israel partially retracted the inflammatory post on Wednesday.

“Yesterday we sent it [messages] which we are not proud of,” BLM Chicago tweeted. “We stand with the Palestinians & the people who will do what they have to to live free. Our hearts are together, grieving mothers, those who rescue babies from the ruins, who are in danger of being completely wiped out.”

The group, which has more than 60,000 followers, posted an image of someone paragliding with a Palestinian flag attached to his parachute and the words “I stand with Palestine” underneath, leading to outrage.

The text clearly refers to Hamas terrorists who attacked Israeli communities with parachutes and gliders over the weekend, killing hundreds and taking civilians hostage in a brutal surprise attack.

BLM Chicago’s setback comes as the BLM Global Network Foundation reportedly clarified it is not affiliated with the Chicago branch or the Black Lives Matter Grassroots group, which has also come under fire for posts tied to Hamas attacks.

Grassroots BLM faced heavy criticism when it stated that Palestinian “resistance” should not be condemned following the slaughter of more than 1,000 Israelis.

“As the world grapples with profound questions of self-determination, and all desire and pray for a peaceful world, we must stand firmly on the side of the oppressed,” BLM Grassroots said, according to Newsweek. “When one has been subjected to decades of apartheid and unimaginable violence, their resistance cannot be condemned, but understood as a desperate act of self-defense.”

“As a radical Black organization based on abolitionist ideals, we see clear parallels between Black people and Palestinians,” the group said.

Anti-Defamation League CEO Jonathan Greenblatt is one of many people blasting posts from the organization over the past 24 hours.

“Posts shared in recent days by BLM chapters in Chicago & LA & other fringe groups, glorifying Hamas terrorists who used hang gliders to infiltrate Israel, slaughtering over 1,000 innocent people, are beyond sick & twisted. It is antisemitic, inhumane & can incite violence,” he tweeted.

“This is an evil terrorist attack, ISIS style. They beheaded babies, slaughtered children & the elderly, set people on fire, raped women & kidnapped at least 150 hostages. The depravity of Hamas terrorists is not surprising. The moral decline of their accomplices in the West is shocking.”

The BLM Global Network Foundation declined to comment on the social media storm but clarified it was not affiliated with the group when contacted by the Washington Free Beacon.

“We have no comment on your story,” the organization said. “To clarify, we are not affiliated with BLM Grassroots or BLM Chicago. We are the global/major BLM.”
