On Sunday evening, the “Superman Returns” actor Instagrammed some photos of the devastating wildfires in Maui that he credited to AP News. The California native said that Hawaii has always been a second home to her, and she found it “terrifying” to see families torn apart by what may be the worst wildfire in Hawaii’s history.
“The Hawaiian Islands have been my second home since I was 18 years old. The sand, the ocean, the wind, the palm trees, the waves are as much a part of me as anything else in my life,” he wrote in the caption of his Instagram post. “This is a place of purity, warmth, meditation, peace, and love. Watching the brutal destruction that has taken place on Maui is heartbreaking.”
“The suffering of the people and the loss of the magnificent land is cruel and terrible. It’s hard to know how to help when it’s really needed,” he continued. “I have spoken to my friends and family who live there, who have their finger on the pulse and their ear to the ground. Please follow @briankeaulana + donate to her fundraiser.”

“100% will be channeled directly to those who need it the most,” he explained. “If you know Brian, you know this is the truest truth. He organized a boat to send generators, tents, food, gas, water etc. There are still many missing. Other than that, there is no communication so he sent radio & starlink internet to people in Lahaina who can help set up a proper communication system.”
“He also tries to help families connect with families & get them food/water & shelter. Please donate to Brian’s Fundraiser in my profile,” he added. “There are a lot of people who trust him to help and the outpouring is very encouraging. If you want to help in another way, link in bio to the Brinker family fundraiser who is doing incredible things and establishing lasting relief and rebuilding the community there.”

He also tagged @ainamomona, @hawaiiancouncil and @hawaiicommunityfoundation as “other trustworthy and reputable non-profit organizations that users can donate to to provide relief to the people of Hawaii. He ended his post by writing, “All my love and sincere Mahalo. Many fans thanked him for sharing the organization and doing what he could to help those suffering in Hawaii.
“We will always remember Lahaina. We are very sad. Thanks for posting the link Kate,” commented one fan. “Dear, my love for that beautiful post we also send a lot of aloha. We are the children of the Sea and the Ocean and believe in their healing power,” another follower shared. “I am with you. When I lived there on Oahu, if anyone suggested a disaster like this could happen, I never thought it could. Terrible situation. Thanks for the info,” a third fan chimed in.

‘Aquaman’ star Jason Momoa warns fans ‘DO NOT TRAVEL TO MAUI’

Many celebrities are talking about the wildfires in Maui, though perhaps none as loudly as “Aquaman” star Jason Momoa. On Sunday, he took to Instagram to encourage his followers to stay away from Hawaii. Although it is now August and many individuals have purchased tickets months in advance to travel to Hawaii for their summer vacation, right now, Momoa said, it is too dangerous to travel there.
“Maui is not a vacation spot right now. DO NOT TRAVEL TO MAUI,” he wrote alongside a slideshow containing visuals of the destruction. “Don’t convince yourself that your presence is needed on an island that suffers so deeply. Mahalo to everyone who has donated and shown love to the community in this time of need.”
Fortunately, some fans actually heeded his warning. “We will come next week. Canceled our trip & donated to a local charity. We love you Maui,” commented one fan. “Expensive for this. We are devastated and need all the resources the locals can get,” shared another follower. “Sending everything I got to the people of Maui. Very heartbreaking, I am a fellow fire survivor, sending love and healing to all affected,” a third fan chimed in.
