Celebrity plastic surgeon and reality star Dubrow has revealed why she stopped using the popular weight loss drug Ozempic. The “Botched” star recently appeared in a promo for the show’s eighth season with co-star Paul Nassif and talked about the controversial drug.

Dubrow explained to Page Six that he was a “big fan” of Ozempic but stopped using it because of some side effects. He explained that the drug affected his appetite and he wanted to be able to enjoy food.

“Ozempic really takes all the joy out of eating it,” claims the doctor.

Dubrow, who also stars on “Real Housewives of Orange County,” said she only uses it to lose some weight. He stated, “I have tried it. I think it’s amazing. But I want to try it because so many of my patients use it and I want to see what it’s like when you don’t have diabetes and you only have to lose 10 to 15 pounds.”

Dubrow explained that the weight loss from using Ozempic also left him with “low-grade nausea,” which contributed to his decision to stop. The plastic surgeon said she wants to be able to enjoy a meal and an appetite and “go on a food holiday” when the holidays come around.

Dubrow further talked about the precautions she needs to take while using Ozempic, such as completely avoiding drinking alcohol. He shared, “You can’t drink it. You have to be careful with alcohol because people are hospitalized with pancreatitis.”

Despite his experience with side effects, Dubrow still praises Ozempic for being an “amazing” drug. He said, “I think it’s a miracle. The greatest achievement in the history of medicine.” Ozempic is an FDA-approved prescription drug to treat diabetes and is the brand name for semaglutide, which helps the brain maintain satiety and suppresses appetite.

Paul Nassif Says Ozempic Has Led To An Increase In People Seeking Plastic Surgery

Paul Nassif, celebrity plastic surgeon and Dubrow’s co-star on “Botched,” also shared his thoughts on Ozempic and its impact on medicine.

He said that the drug can help people live longer and has led to an increase in people seeking plastic surgery to correct sagging skin after rapid weight loss through the drug.

Nassif says, “Your skin can’t accommodate, so it hangs. Then you lose muscle, you don’t get enough protein, and then they have a lot of hanging skin.”

To help prevent this, the two doctors advise people using Ozempic for weight loss to incorporate fitness into their routine and consume more protein.

Dubrow and Nassif’s interview was to promote the ninth season of “Botched,” which premieres Jan. 18. In previous seasons, the two tackled a variety of complicated and shocking plastic surgery cases.

The latest episode shows Dubrow and Nassif helping a young woman who has undergone 42 botched surgeries to repair her face after a horrific teenage accident. They also dealt with the case of a woman with mismatched breasts after her breasts were damaged after losing a lot of weight.

While describing the nature of their plastic surgery careers thus far, Dubrow said they have cultivated a rare skill set that helps them in “very difficult cases.”

He stated, “When you’re on a TV show for a decade where all you do are hard cases, that becomes your practice in real life… What was once difficult is now easy, and what was once impossible is actually mostly possible now.”
