Pop star Britney Spears told her followers to “lighten up about knives” and claimed she was actually just impersonating Shakira.
On Monday night, the 41-year-old pop star took to Instagram to share a video of herself dancing with a knife. The video immediately drew comparisons to Shakira, who danced with a knife during the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards dance on September 12.
Although the “Toxic” singer told her fans the knife was fake, some followers felt the “clunk” of the knife proved it was real and were even more concerned when she appeared to have several new bruises the next day.

On Monday night, the Pop Princess danced barefoot on the tiled floor of her living room while waving two knives in her hands. The clanking of the knives seemed to startle his little dogs, who fled as the two knives collided with each other.

It was unclear at the time how Britney sustained her various injuries, although she said she felt “weaker” after losing “a lot” of weight in a now-deleted caption.

“So yesterday I brought back this dress … kinda like a costume I guess … I love it !!!! I never thought white would read well but it’s true… I’m not fishing for compliments !!! I realized I had been in my living room dancing … the lights gave me a horrible migraine after 20 years ? … I love controlling the lights !!! I mean it’s my head … do I have to BELIEVE again ??? Too many smiles always say ‘Sorry we didn’t know!’ but ok ??♀️??!!! I realized I have lost a lot of weight and my eyes are not so open!!! I feel weaker when I lose weight. On September 12, the “Hips Don’t Lie” singer was seen performing an Arabic dance known as the keris dance at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards. MTV later posted a clip of Shakira’s performance to their Instagram page.
In the caption, they wrote, “There must be medical staff on SITE if I try to recreate @shakira’s knife dance ?? #VMAs.”
