Singer Britney Spears has deleted an Instagram post in which she claimed she was “retiring from the business.”
On Tuesday night, the 41-year-old pop star shared a video of her dancing, spinning and around the gym in Maui last year. In the caption, she told her followers that she had “retired from the business”, but it seems she may have had a change of heart, as the post disappeared on Wednesday.

In the caption of her since-deleted Instagram post, the “Hold Me Closer” singer told her 42.1 million Instagram followers, “This is a repost from Maui last year !!! I know it’s not that great BUT that song is my favorite song I’ve ever made !! ! It’s so weird because my dancer is on stage for this song ? !!! Oh well!!!”
“I heard this song today and actually realized it for the first time ?????? !!! I think that’s all the rules you know!!! Guessing all those rules and not having a voice for 13 years in what I want [to give] a lot of people ride a thrilling ride !!!” he continued. “Oh well!!! Psss no wonder I quit the JUST SAYING business !!! But I’m going to London next week for shopping ?️ so it’s not too bad !!!”
Britney Spears Reportedly Has No Plans To Tour Anymore

Britney Directly Tells Her Followers That She’s Done Touring

While the “Toxic” singer could always change her mind, Britney has made it clear for years that she’s done with touring. In December 2021, she took to Instagram in a since-deleted post to tell her followers “I don’t think I want to do it anymore” and said touring was “too much” for her.
“I know I don’t play big arenas with my loud band anymore but I’ll be honest and say life on the road is tough!!!” Britney wrote at the time. “My first three years in the business and on the road were great but I’ll be completely honest and say that after those three tours and the pace I went through… I don’t think I want to do it anymore!!! “

In a March 2023 Instagram post, the “Slumber Party” singer said she’s been in the music industry for “more than half my life” and described touring from city to city as “pretty exhausting.”
“I’ve been in the music industry for over half my life!!! I was told by someone who directed the movie that the music industry is a different animal … especially tourism!!!” Britney wrote. “It’s fun at first but if you’ve been doing it for a while, being in a different city always gets really tiring !!! I’ve done like 10 tours!!!”
While fans hope otherwise, it doesn’t seem likely… at least, not right now.
