Jamie Spears has struggled with a number of health issues over the years. On Thursday night, a source told Page Six that the Spears patriarch was “very ill” and in the hospital.
“Jamie has developed a severe infection that will require surgery,” another source added. “He was hospitalized for weeks in a special infectious disease facility.”
The insider also stated that the Daily Mail’s previous report that Jamie went to rehab over the summer to deal with his problems stemming from alcoholism was false.

In August, TMZ reported that Jamie was hospitalized “a few months ago” to deal with an infection from a knee replacement he underwent nearly two decades ago.
A source told the outlet that he had “lost more than 25 pounds” and looked “very thin” while “in and out” of medical treatment. Despite reports that Britney would reconcile with her father amid her health scare, a source told Page Six in August, “Britney is on the road to healing, but reconciliation with Jamie is not in the cards.”
Britney Has A Complicated Relationship With Her Mother, Sister

In addition to her father, Britney also has a strained relationship with her estranged mother, Lynne Spears, and her sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, in the midst of her divorce from actor Sam Asghari.
In August 2023, a source told Page Six that the pop star was still not “on good terms with his family” even though he allowed his mother to visit him at his home in May. “His meeting with his mom, it’s going well, but there’s still a lot of hurt there, so they’re still not reconciled,” the source claimed. “Britney is still very angry with Jamie Lynn too.”
The insider called the “Hold Me Closer” singer “isolated, especially now without Sam,” but went on to say that she’s “hanging in there, all things considered.”
Later that same day, a source told TMZ that Britney is still “estranged” from her family and not speaking to them. “He has one confidante, [her manager] Cade [Hudson],” said a source. “Then there was his security team, and after that, his support system fell off the cliff.”
Another Insider Claims Britney Spears Is ‘Not Alone At All’

The Daily Mail, however, reported otherwise, saying that her mother and sister have been nothing but supportive of the pop star despite their divorce.
“He is not alone at all. Britney has her sister Jamie Lynn who is in and out of LA and she also has her mother Lynne, who is expected to arrive this weekend, if she hasn’t already flown in,” an insider told the outlet. “He has a support system including his agent and old friends [and manager] Cade [Hudson]his friends which include some of his backup dancers and his girlfriend.”
In addition to her family, the insider said that Britney also “has her team of assistants and cooks” who are always around her. The source also said that she has been “getting calls and texts from everyone she knows, including people she hasn’t spoken to in years” amid the divorce.
“He will get through this,” the source added. “He’s been through worse and nobody’s going to let anything happen to him.”

Later this week, another source told the Daily Mail that Britney’s mother is “furious” with the actress for “abandoning” her daughter and is now “begging” her daughter to “recover and regroup” in Louisiana with the rest of her family.
“Lynne is angry [Sam] for leaving Britney,” the insider shared. “He vowed to stand by her through sickness and in health – and she knew he wasn’t well [when they married].”
They continued, “Lynne pleaded [Britney] to leave LA and live with him,” adding, “LA is toxic and the only thing keeping him there is [Sam]. Lynne believes she can heal and regroup in Louisiana, then return to LA when she’s ready.”
