Although the 2004 film “The Notebook” collected $118.2 million dollars at the box office, the pop star was relieved that he did not have to act opposite the film “The Mickey Mouse Club” costar Ryan Gosling. While she admitted that it would be “fun” to re-star with the “La La Land” cast, she admitted that the acting life wasn’t for her after starring in the 2002 film “Crossroads.”

In an excerpt from her memoir released by People magazine, Britney admitted, “Casting The Notebook came to me and Rachel McAdams, and while it would have been fun to reconnect with Ryan Gosling after we were on The Mickey Mouse Club, I’m glad I didn’t . If I had, instead of working on my In the Zone album, I’d be acting like a 1940s heiress day and night.”

Britney admitted that she struggled with “method acting” on the set of the 2002 film “Crossroads,” which also starred Zoë Saldana and Taryn Manning. The film tells the story of three childhood friends who go cross-country to mend their friendship after eight years apart.

“The experience was not easy for me. My problem was not with anyone involved in the production but with what acting did to my mind,” Britney wrote in her memoir. “I think I started acting Method — I just didn’t know how to get out of my character. I really became this other person. Some people do Method acting, but they are usually aware of the fact that they are doing it. But I don’t have any separation at all.”

“I ended up walking differently, carrying myself differently, talking differently. I was a different person for months while I was filming Crossroads. Still to this day, I’m convinced the girls I shot the movie with were thinking, She’s a little…strange. If they think so, they are right,” he continued.

After that experience, it seems the “Mind Your Business” singer decided acting wasn’t for her. “That was the beginning and the end of my acting career, and I was relieved,” he wrote. “I imagine there are people in acting who have dealt with that sort of thing, where they have trouble separating themselves from the character.”

“I hope I never approach the dangers of that job again. Living that way, being half self and half fictional character, is a mess. After a while you don’t know what’s real anymore,” he added, though fans will be able to see him perform on stage again in a global fan event that will bring “Crossroads” back to theaters on October 23 and October 25.
